CNC Machinist


Sets-up and operate various machine-tools, such as lathes, manual mills, CNC mills, shapers and grinders, and fits and sub assembles parts to make or repair mechanisms, tools, fixtures or machines, applying knowledge of mechanisms, shop mathematics, metal and plastic properties, lay-out and machining procedures.


•    Interprets specifications, drawings or sample parts to determine the most suitable and economical manufacturing process. Plans the sequence of machining operations. 
•    Computes dimensions and tolerances and prepares working sketches from general descriptions and by examining parts and their mating surfaces.
•    Selects and installs cutting tools in machines.
•    Sets controls and gears to facilitate indexing of work-piece, cutting speed and depth of cut according to type of materials.
•    Verifies conformance of part to specifications, using measuring instruments; such as, scales, calipers, micrometers and fixed gauges.
•    Creates and runs CNC programs using Master CAM.
•    Finishes and fits parts to mechanisms.
•    Maintains machines and tools related to the manufacturing processes.
•    Maintain cleanliness of the work area around the machines.
•    Recommend design changes to parts with regard to improving manufacturing processes.
•    Attend design reviews as required.
•    Ensures that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS code of business conduct. 



A Certificate of Qualification as a General Machinist or equivalent, and an up to date certificate in Master CAM.


Three years’ of machining experience, conventional and CNC working to close and medium tolerances, in a machine shop or toolroom environment.
