Job Description


Position Title:        Director, Leadership & Talent Development
Department:          Human Resources, Corporate
Reports To:           CHRO




Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this role will own and implement strategy to enable business outcomes through talent review, succession planning, high-potential development, focus on diversity and inclusion and other initiatives that build bench strength and our ability to attract and retain top talent globally. This role is a blend of operational execution and strategic oversight requiring an individual who can easily toggle between detailed execution and broader thought leadership to stand-up a Centre of Excellence.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Partner with line and corporate leadership to identify gaps and develop talent management strategies that improve organizational effectiveness
  • Act as a liaison with other HR leads to align talent management solutions, systems, and processes to support the common needs of the business, enhance leadership capability and reinforce our organization’s purpose and core values
  • Engage in coaching relationships with directors and officers; develop field HR capability in talent management
  • Own high-potential management and development programs that align with long-range business strategies
  • Maintain database of talent information, coordinate with management team, participate in succession planning, and key talent review meetings, and oversee strategies to accelerate development of key talent and successor candidates
  • Keeps up to date with market trends, research, best practices and curates to fit the organization’s context ensuring quality and relevance
  • Responsible to lead development and implementation of Diversity & Inclusion strategy and framework to align with focus on Valuing Uniqueness & Fostering Belonging

  • Trusted advisor in support of delivering leadership’s full potential - strong consulting, facilitation, and persuasive negotiation skills
  • Proven track record of functional human resources discipline - learning and development, talent management, succession planning
  • Ability to develop and maintain long-term, big picture views and knows how to prioritize to achieve them - thinks conceptually, strategically, and creatively; has a cost-conscious and practical approach to using time and resources
  • Data driven - analyses strengths and weaknesses at an organizational and market level when providing input, solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Astute organizational/political awareness and business acumen
  • Models operational and tactical excellence - planning, design, implementation, facilitation, measurement, reporting, presentation
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills




  • A post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Additional studies in Organizational behaviour, adult learning or related field preferred



  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in results-focused HR roles where there was ownership and/or creation of ground up programs in talent development, leadership development, or succession planning
  • Global experience with rolling out programs, especially in North America and Europe
