Financial Analyst



The Financial Analyst, ATS Global Services will operate in a critical supporting / business partnering role for the divisions.  Reporting to the Finance Manager, Global Services, you will be responsible for financial reporting and financial planning and analysis activities for the division.  As our group continues to evolve service offerings to our customers by providing best-in-class life cycle experiences for their automation equipment, you will work with a highly motivated leadership team in need of strong project finance support, data, metrics and analysis to understand results and areas for improvement to create a clear path to our annual operating plan targets.  Utilizing tools that align with our ATS Business Model (ABM) foundation and practices, you will provide critical input to the direction of the group.  





Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial reports for the Global Services Divisions.






    Maintain the accounting records in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
    Initiate & implement follow-up measures to support the accomplishment of financial targets and highlight areas needing improvement.
    Ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner within the division and that the financial reporting standards are applied consistently.  Regularly review policies and procedures with division leadership, to develop an ATS best practice approach for the financial management of the division.  
    Ensure the safeguarding of company assets.




    Prepare the monthly corporate financial reporting package and supporting analysis on a timely basis, in accordance with IFRS and the ATS Accounting Policy Manual.  Ensure that divisional financial results are explained completely and accurately, with variances explained and areas of risk identified.
    Perform month-end closing activities, including preparation of account reconciliations, ensuring that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled regularly. 
    Maintain the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts.
    Support preparation & analysis of quarterly and monthly financial reports. 
    Develop and/or prepare ad hoc financial analysis as assigned by division management. 
    Prepare year-end audit working papers if/ as required.




    Maintain the Fixed Asset ledgers and administration, with support from shared service resources.
    Administer the capital expenditure approval process if/as required.
    Prepare and distribute monthly department expense reports and ensure the accuracy of the reports.
    Respond to inquiries from department heads and perform required analysis.



    A university degree or college diploma in business and/or accounting or equivalent business experience is required.  
    Must have or be working towards a professional accounting designation (CPA).



    A minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience is required; preferably in a manufacturing environment; knowledge of percentage of completion accounting is an asset.  
    Individual must have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with people at all levels of the organization both verbally and in written form.  
    Advanced knowledge of an ERP system (preferably JD Edwards) and Excel are required.  
    In addition, the ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance in a collaborative, team-oriented, results driven work environment is mandatory.  
    Strong analytical, financial reporting and accounting skills as well a continuous improvement mindset are critical.  
    Finally, the person must be hands-on, detail oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines.
