Job Description

The Manager, Facilities Maintenance is responsible for the security, maintenance, and services of Canadian LS facilities to ensure they meet the needs of the organization and its employees.  Including:
•    Maintenance of all plant facilities and campus grounds in Canada.  
•    Coordinates the activities of maintenance staff engaged in repairing, adjusting, installing and servicing mechanical and HVAC equipment.
•    Efficient staffing and operation of cafeteria food services and security of the Cambridge Fountain Street Campus.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Set-up, oversees, and administrate contracts for providers of services including security, parking, cleaning, cafeteria food services, and related technology (non-IT)
•    Supervising multi-disciplinary team of staff including maintenance, cleaning, cafeteria, grounds and security
•    Establishing and managing budgets including advising businesses on increasing energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness/savings initiatives, and multi-year capital expenditures
•    Set-up, schedule, and administrate the preventative maintenance program on equipment, building and facilities including preparing workorders, maintenance reports, and record keeping.
•    Ensuring full compliance to municipal ordinances, provincial / federal legislation, environmental, health and safety, and security standards
•    Troubleshoot and maintain industrial and plant equipment.
•    Install and start up new machinery.
•    Co-ordinate repairs to hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
•    Overhaul all machines utilizing basic welding, machine-fitting, plumbing, mechanical and electrical knowledge and skills
•    Plan and execute CapEx building, renovation, or refurbishment projects within established budgets and schedules.  Report monthly performance metrics on assigned projects.  Financial forecast cost to complete on a monthly basis for remaining work.  
•    Responsible for coordinating workloads and day-to-day supervision of staff on his/her team in order to maximize productivity. Providing coaching/feedback and reviewing the performance of direct reports.
 

Additional Information

Education:
•    Completion of college diploma in a trade centric discipline or equivalent.  

 

Experience:
•    Several years of hands-on experience
•    Management of trades people in a supervisory capacity
•    Construction project management (new building or significant renovation thereof)

•    The ability to lead and manage teams and projects
•    Attention to detail but also the ability to see the implications for the bigger picture
