Products Integration Technician

Job Description

Position Title:  Products Integration Technician, SuperTrak
Department:    Operations
Reports to:      Production Supervisor   


As a member of a highly motivated, dynamic, multi-disciplined team, you will work together to integrate world - class SuperTrak conveyance solutions. Duties involve integration of software with electrical and mechanical systems, process verification and machine installation and machine and equipment maintenance at customer sites worldwide (if required). In this role, you will resolve product and service concerns and/or opportunities by utilizing product knowledge and organization acumen. 


•    Run Final Acceptance Test (FAT), assist in debug and commission systems at our facility, during the system integration stage and then at the customer's site during installation (if required).
•    Test and integrate hardware and software components such as motors, control panels, power supplies, and pallets.
•    Use sound troubleshooting skills during integration to root cause and resolve problems during integration.
•    Work with product managers, Engineers, and assembly to solve problems to provide the customer with a complete, functional automation system.
•    Provide thorough testing of machine functionality to verify software program completeness.
•    Provide accurate documentation for each system.
•    Commission new installations including configuration, startup, PLC integration support and product training.
•    Develop relationships internally that foster collaboration; maintain a knowledge level of support areas conducive for effective analysis of solutions.
•    Perform software and hardware upgrades and retrofits to existing systems and test equipment on shopfloor.
•    Stay current with emerging technology and trends to provide technical support for product rollouts and/or existing offerings.
•    Review, recommend and make changes to electrical design packages in collaboration with staff Electrician.
•    Identify training needs for the department and assist with training development programs. 
•    Support prototype build process of new product development and introduction
•    Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
•    Work in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Additional Information


  • A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems engineering.
  • 3+ years of integration experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands-on experience is desirable.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshooting skills with systems involving mechanics, electronics and controls software.
  • Automation Studio programming experience is an asset. C, VB.NET and C# programming experience an asset.
  • PLC programming experience and working knowledge of electronic test equipment, electronic troubleshooting and basic repair is an asset.
  • Equivalent technical training & experience in client relations.

Physical Requirements:

May be required to perform a wide range of movements including bending, crawling, kneeling, etc.
