Job Description


The Strategy and M&A Leader, Life Sciences will own and drive the full cycle of strategic planning as well as the M&A process from opportunity identification to post acquisition integration.  He/She will analyze the market environment, identify and evaluate strategic development potential with a strong focus on M&A and partnerships. He/She will conduct industry and company-specific analyses on new market and business opportunities. Having identified relevant targets, the function will evaluate opportunities from a business, strategic and financial perspective engaging SMEs from within the organization to support. 


•    Guide the strategic focus and execution for the Life Sciences organization aligned with the enterprise strategy function, and help build global strategic capability
•    Steer the Life Sciences Leadership Team through the strategic planning process
•    Integrate strategic plans from business units and champion a segment approach to crafting and refining strategy leveraging proven tools and frameworks
•    Leverage corporate processes, and develop where needed, a process through which to assess strategic opportunities and positions in different global markets



•    Engineering degree required, Master’s Degree (or equivalent) preferred, MBA desirable

•    Recognized for functional excellence in both strategy and M&A
•    Proven experience leading strategic planning and working through strategy cycles with operations. 
•    Practice in a continuous improvement approach to strategy (i.e. Can take lessons learned from one strategy cycle into the next cycle)
•    Performed industry market analysis to develop the overall Life Sciences strategy
•    Demonstrated ability to take a discerning approach to acquisition opportunities with the strength of character to resist acquisition activity that does not align with the organization’s growth strategy
•    Evaluated potential acquisition targets to determine suitability with the organization strategy and identify business synergies
•    Experience participating on due diligence teams to identify areas of risk and consideration relating to potential acquisitions
•    Executed completion of acquisitions through negotiation, structuring, deal signature and business plan building
•    Track record of managing an aggressive M&A agenda and the appropriate prioritization of activities
•    Lead other non-M&A strategic business projects including but not limited to formulating and developing new business initiatives 
•    Capacity to deal with ambiguity as well as, the complexity of the business stakeholder group
•    Understanding of the custom machine building, automation and life sciences industries 
•    Experience in project management and / or leading functional teams 
•    Proven experience operating successfully within a decentralized corporate environment
•    Understands the external landscape and has familiarity with multiple highly regulated technical external markets of the organization
•    Strong international exposure and the proven experience of conducting business in multiple regions, including Europe
