Subcontract Project Manager

 

Job Description

Management of major automation subsystems, working directly with Project Management and Purchasing. 
Responsible for successful execution, throughout the project life cycle from kick off through to Final Acceptance.
Will be the liaison between all related ATS stakeholders to achieve specific project goals and objectives.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Primary 3rd party contact for assigned automation subsystems. Maintain regular contact (verbal and written) with Suppliers ensuring all key project events and issues are documented in writing.
•    Support the development & timely delivery of custom automation subsystems from kick-off through to Final Acceptance per the committed schedule to ATS.
•    Understand and manage status of automation subsystems and report to associated ATS PM at regular cadence.
•    Create and manage a detailed subsystem schedule for input into the automation system project schedule
•    Coordinate associated internal approvals (such as approval drawings)
•    Advise and guide the Project Management team regarding supplier capabilities to achieve lowest cost compliant solutions.
•    Understand the product from initial concept and provide early input regarding ease and cost of supply.
•    Maintain a focus on vendor technologies to enable low-cost design and facilitate a collaborative working relationship between Design Engineers and Suppliers.
•    Engage Subsystem Suppliers early in the project life cycle to gain their appropriate input into product solutions. 
•    Maintain an  up to date Supplier list based on capability and performance
•    Provide regular feedback to Applications on Supplier performance
•    Contribute to Post Project Reviews
 

Additional Information

Education:

 

A Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Project Management, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent discipline. PMP certification is an asset.

 

Experience:

 

•    A minimum of 5 years of Project Management or Category Management experience in a custom manufacturing environment.
•    Moderate technical experience (Mechanical experience preferred) and/or strong ability to learn new industries
•    Experience with part feeding technologies is an asset
•    Sound schedule management driving critical path.
•    Experience developing and applying a Project Plan. 
•    Situational Adaptability (ability to deal with changing and fluid situations)
•    Conflict Management skills 
•    Sound working knowledge of Excel, Word and other MS Office software. 
•    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
•    Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to interact in a dynamic multi-disciplinary team environment.

 

  • Travel is required to both domestic and international customer locations
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with Health Canada-approved vaccines as a condition of employment prior to start date
