Mechanical Technician

Job Description



•    Under general direction, assemble, install, and align mechanical components and precision tooling with a quality and timely focus to assemble and integrate SuperTrak systems 
•    Modify/rework machined part & assemblies as required to support customer and new production introduction (NPI) builds


•    Requires a practical working knowledge of the operation of all toolroom equipment.
•    Machine details, applying tolerances on prints, understand GD & T and where to apply. 
•    Must be able to recognize function and relationship of all details within assemblies.
•    Support the needs of the manufacturing department when questions arise. 
•    Ensure that all print updates are being completed and submitted to necessary stakeholder 
•    Proceed with floor assembly according to floor plan layout, assembling the job in a safe and proper order according to procedures, providing the other departments with the tooling needed to accomplish their tasks according to the schedule.  
•    Participate in the debug/integration of the line.  Check preliminary station set up before Final Acceptance Tests (FAT) are scheduled to begin.  Run the entire line with team and others to check functionality
•    Perform rework efficiently to ensure minimal impact to schedule. 
•    Ensure that all rework is properly recorded.
•    Provide mechanical support during the duration of integration and FAT
•    Participate in tear down and shipping of the equipment, dismantling in an orderly fashion to minimize the installation time at customer’s site. 
•    If required, be an ambassador for the SuperTrak team at the customer’s site, providing quick and efficient installation of the equipment.  Follow all safety procedures according to the ATS Health and Safety Manual in addition to following any onsite customer health and safety procedures.
•    Reassemble equipment to the point of buy-off at customer’s site.  
•    Help define & draft assembly work instructions when transitioning product from NPI to production
•    Help train production staff on mechanical aspects of new builds
•    Communicate and be a channel of any constructive or objective ideas that arise, helping to keep the manufacturing standards up-to-date and at the highest level.  
•    Use the team as a pool of technical knowledge, solving problems together efficiently.
•    Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
•    Maintain a clean and organized work environment – follow 5S standards. 
•    Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.


Additional Information




Education & Experience:

•    Minimum of 2 years hands on experience in building, aligning and assembly of automation equipment
•    Strong mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
•    A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

May be required to stand at workstations for prolonged periods of time. May be required to perform a wide range of movements including bending, crawling, kneeling, etc. May be required to lift up to 80lbs. Use of hand tools requires significant manual dexterity.
