Sr. Buyer

Job Description

The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing of commodity type and sub-contracted labor to achieve departmental goals and objectives.  Management of vendors for quality, on time deliveries, non-conformances, metrics aligned to company objectives, and risks associated with vendors or contractors.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Process purchasing documentation (i.e. requisitions, purchase orders, cancellation forms, continual improvement reports) in accordance with BioDot policies and procedures.
  • Track, monitor and maintain purchase order deliveries to drive on-time delivery to schedules.
  • Expedite purchase orders based on input from project teams.
  • Review part blueprints, understand type of subcontract work required, and choose optimal sub-contract vendor.
  • Communicate with and evaluate vendors to ascertain their ability to meet company requirements, goals, and objectives.  This will include on-site visits to subcontract vendor locations.
  • Negotiate prices, discounts and delivery arrangements with suppliers.
  • Expedite problems with suppliers regarding costs, quality, quantity and delivery of goods.
  • Perform on-going review of product and services to identify new opportunities for cost savings.
  • Resolve invoicing discrepancies and approve for payment.
  • Effective use of historical and other benchmarking data to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Assist in the development of cost containment, product standardization, vendor consolidation and benchmarking reports, and other supply chain management strategies that maximize value while ensuring that BioDot standards are maintained or enhanced. 
  • Act as a key resource for BioDot staff by assisting in the research and development of products, service and equipment alternatives, initiation and follow-up of evaluations, requests for quotation and other day-to-day procurement.
  • Assist in the development of contracts with the manager, subcontract manufacturing, BioDot team and vendors.
  • Continuously maintain accurate enterprise resource planning (ERP) records with vendor master, item masters, and fully understand material resource planning (MRP) for full achievement of reporting features tied to supply chain roles.
  • Adhere to all International Standardization (ISO) procedures and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the BioDot Code of Business Conduct.
  • Full compliance to the terms and conditions within the employee signed work from home policy.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures. 
  • Comply with all BioDot Company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:    

  • A post-secondary degree in Purchasing or equivalent work experience.
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or other supply chain certification.
  • 6 Sigma (green or black belt) certifications preferred.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Material Planning (MRP) systems; Epicor is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years in purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
