The Director Synergy, Strategy, and M&A, Products & Food Technology will be a key member of the Products & Food Technology Segment Leadership Team. This global leadership position will have ownership over the development of strategic plans across the business units, supporting the business leaders in the development of strategy, while maximizing synergies across the segment and across all areas of ATS.  This role will also be active in creating a M&A funnel to accelerate and support strategy, reach out and cultivation of targets in partnership with the President, and model development and acquisition rationale for the full M&A process.  

 


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Development and refinement of the existing business strategy in conjunction with Business Leadership and Functional experts 
  • Project management and core participant of the annual strategy process, responsible for ensuring timely deliverable of well-developed strategic initiatives  
  • Owner of market and competitive analysis, including preparation of quarterly overviews providing updates of market trends, competitive dynamics and further insights that may influence business performance 
  • Collaboration with product management and sales to determine best go-to-market strategies for new solutions and products, including value proposition, business model, target customers, etc.  
  • Project management and oversight to maximize key synergies inside and outside of the segment to realize a full benefit 
  • Development of recommendations for Business Leadership and relevant interest groups on ad-hoc topics relevant to the Business
  • Build-out of front-end M&A pipeline – identification, analysis and evaluation of adjacent segments and its participants; cultivation strategy planning and outreach as appropriate
  • Build-out of relevant financial and technical analyses to be used as the basis for strategic and M&A decisions 
  • Project management of M&A diligence activities, and preparation of non-binding and binding review materials in conjunction with the Corporate Development team
  • Planning and coordination of integration activities for acquired companies

Additional Information

 

QUALIFICATIONS:    

 

Education:    

  • A diploma or degree specializing in a technical field, preferably mechanical/electrical engineering, marketing, communications, or other business-related field
  • MBA preferred but not required

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ of experience in commercial roles of increasing responsibilities (sales, marketing, product management)
  • Excellent sales and customer relationship management skills are essential, with extensive experience in voice-of-the customer and strategic planning / execution is a must
  • Any experience with M&A is a benefit
  • Computer knowledgeable with such programs as Windows, Excel, Word, MS Outlook, Adobe, etc. 
  • Any experience in food and beverage is a plus
  • Strong indirect influence and communication skills

 

This position can be performed in Cambridge, Ontario, Charlotte, North Carolina, and other ATS locations on Eastern or Central time zone. There is also the possibility that this role can be performed remote with travel.
