The HR Generalist will assist in various functions within the human resources department including recruitment, benefits administration, new hire orientation, employee relations, payroll assistance, and other projects as assigned. This individual will work closely with both the U.S. and Canadian HR teams and will learn and develop throughout most functional areas within human resources.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists in talent acquisition and recruitment processes for employees
  • Source candidates and review resumes, conduct preliminary interviews, create offer letters, coordinate the pre-employment process
  • Conduct reference checks as needed
  • Utilize the applicant tracking system, maintain records on applicants
  • Liaison with temporary staffing agencies for temporary staffing requirements.
  • Maintain all training records, e.g. training sign-in sheets, logs, etc.
  • Enter new hires in E-Verify
  • Conduct new hire orientations and assist with onboarding
  • Process FMLA and other leaves of absence, short-term disability claims
  • Administers benefit programs; enrolls new employees in benefits, processes status changes, assists in open enrollment
  • Assist the HR Manager with employee relations, preparing disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state labor laws and regulations
  • Keep up to date on changing laws, regulations, and best practices in human resources
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS/sortimat Code of Business Conduct.
  • Compliance with quality and safety management requirements.



  • Bachelor's Degree; in Human Resource Management (HRM) or a post-secondary degree specializing in human resources or equivalent experience with certification required preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HR administration services in a manufacturing or engineering environment preferred
  • Recruiting & experience with Human Resources information system (HRIS) e,g,, SuccessFactors and/or ADP a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Always approachable and professional in approach
  • Able to keep several projects/tasks moving forward at once; nothing slips through the cracks
  • Capable of working in an unsupervised environment; proactive; doesn't wait for instruction
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to change
  • A commitment to excellence
