Inventory Specialist

Seeking a full-time Inventory Lead/Specialist for a rapidly growing company in the medical and pharmaceutical industry.  The ideal candidate must be hands-on and must be able to meet deadlines for his/her responsibilities either directly or indirectly.  We offer a very competitive compensation package as well as a fully climate-controlled environment across both of our facilities on one campus. This position is responsible for providing the day-to-day and strategic planning to optimize inventory levels.  Develops manufacturing concepts and strategies to support business objectives. Integrates suppliers, processes, materials, data and technology to meet manufacturing and delivery requirements.  Job duties include: 

  • Manage the inventory control system
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing products and supplies; rectify miscalculations
  • Review and analyze the results of operations
  • Issue inventory parts to projects and spare parts orders
  • Ensure unused inventory parts leftover from projects are returned into inventory
  • Oversee vendor-managed inventory
  • Report findings to management and make recommendations for improvement as necessary
  • Understand schematics, Bill of Materials, drawings, and manufacturer guidelines in order to achieve the desired results
  • Oversee inventory audits
  • Provide inventory control reports as required
  • Maintain count accuracy (digital and physical counting)
  • Maintain safety while using equipment and tools
  • Determine obsolete inventory through usage analysis
  • Assists with development and integration of suppliers, processes, materials, data and technology to meet manufacturing and delivery requirements
  • Assists in reviewing supplier data to ensure manufacturing related requirements are met.
  • Perform tasks within the Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) including data entry, report creation, analysis of data, manufacturing planning and resource planning.
  • Analyzes and monitors the financial and operational impact of inventory adjustments.
  • Establishes and manages tier cycle count programs to verify inventory balances.
  • Runs, distributes, and inputs Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) cycle counts. 
  • Researches transaction history to determine the source of inventory variances and order filling errors.
  • Researches potential quantity variances as identified by accounts payable.

Additional Information


  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Two (2) + years of experience in an inventory role
  • Able to use a computer and other office technology
  • Familiar with data entry systems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time in an efficient and timely manner
  • Problem-solving skills to come up with ways to improve overall efficiency and overcome inventory problems
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with budget management
  • Attention to detail to identify defective products
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Detailed understanding of all warehouse practices and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to implement processes resulting in satisfactory audit practices
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills; ability to resolve inventory issues effectively and efficiently across multiple operating departments with persistence and superior follow-up.
  • Good leadership collaboration skills
  • Good analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good organizational skills, assembly process skills and attention to detail
  • General knowledge of drawings, data systems and models associated with supported systems/platforms
  • Thorough understanding of computer operations; knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ERP.  Mechanical CAD preferred
  • Follows procedures
  • Data entry with minimal amount of errors
  • Create standard and customized reports
  • Analyze report data and translate for end-users
  • Creates Queries for data retrieval
  • 3rd party report writing software



  • The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
  • Able to stand and bend for long periods of time in a warehouse environment. 
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently. 
  • Visual Acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.
  • Hearing Ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions. 
  • Working Conditions – The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting manufacturing floor. 
  • Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
