Seeking a full time Senior Lead Builder for a rapidly growing company in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. This role will be under direction from the Assembly supervisor, will assemble, debug and install entire machines and/or systems in a timely manner and meet customer requirements. Mentor new and/or existing builders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize the floor layout
- Plan resource needs and workflow
- Execute build to budget with focus on: Quality, Schedule and Budget
- Assemble all aspects of a machine or multi-system from drawings and/or verbal instructions.
- Provide direction to Builders and Contractors as required.
- Fabricate critical machine components as required.
- Interface with electrical personnel concerning electrical and programming issues.
- Use knowledge of pneumatic functions, devices and fittings, to achieve desired results.
- Perform machine parts and assembly modifications as required, interfacing with engineering when changes are major or of a critical nature.
- Be involved in debug of entire machine, with engineering, as necessary.
- Drive in-house acceptance run-off.
- Use knowledge of OSHA requirements for machine safety devices and guards.
- Record changes to machine parts and assemblies on engineering drawings following our current red line process.
- Interface with customer when necessary.
- Install and service machines at customer’s site as required.
- Train customer’s personnel on machine operations and maintenance.
- Provide information for machine technical documentation.
- Maintain a safe working environment and follow safe working practices.
- Keep work area clean.
- Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly fashion.
- Follow work instructions and maintain checklists.
- Maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
- Recommend improvements in order to facilitate company growth.
- Maintain ISO 13485 and 9001 Certification Requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
MENTORSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership and existing knowledge to new or existing Machine Builders in a professional manner.
- Provide informal transmission of knowledge through communication by suggestion and hands on training.
- Provide feedback to Senior Management on mentoring process.
- Mentor new or existing employees based on Management’s recommendation.
CONTRACTORS:
- Monitor and drive to budget and schedule.
- Assign tasks based on project.
- Train for results.
- Provide feedback to Supervisor on skill, aptitude and work ethic.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalency.
EXPERIENCE:
- Ten years minimum experience in machine building.
- Journeyman toolmaker or equivalent skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Good interpersonal skills.
EQUIPMENT:
- Must be knowledgeable in the proper use and selection of tools and equipment.
- Examples:
- Inspection and measurement tools such as vernier, caliper, and scales, etc.
- Hand tools such as a variety of wrenches, pliers, saws, power drills, etc.
- Machinery such as milling machine, surface grinders, lathe, etc.
- Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel
