The Senior Human Resources Generalist provides expertise, support and guidance to assigned divisional leaders and their teams in the areas of workforce planning, recruitment, talent management, employee relations, organization design, and restructuring, performance management, employee engagement, retention, and employee/leader development. Proactively partner with the business to understand critical business priorities and HR implications. Recommend, develop, and administer Human Resources policies, procedures and programs in support of business initiatives.  The Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for benefits administration, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) support, recordation and maintenance of International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards (ISO) training documents, recruitment, employee relations, immigration, and payroll back-up, providing support to the division, HR Manager, and General Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to employees and leaders on HR programs, practices, policies, legislation and regulatory requirements including interpretation of policy, identification of risk, impact to the business and recommended solutions.
  • Partner with the business to influence decisions and provide thoughtful and effective coaching to leaders on recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, compensation, organizational design, succession planning, employee and leadership development and overall organizational effectiveness. 
  • Interpret and analyze management information and data to assist in making appropriate business decisions based on HR metrics and trends for the business.
  • Participate in the development and execution of the HR strategic plan.  Develop and undertake focused improvement initiatives, projects and program launches as required.
  • Mentor, provide leadership and direct the daily activities of junior team members including the Office Assistant.
  • Demonstrate leadership and a continuous improvement mindset related to health and safety, employee wellness offerings and environmental initiatives.  

 

This role will also oversee, administer and/or delegate additional tasks related to:

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor of science in Human Resource Management (HRM) or a post-secondary degree specializing in human resources or equivalent experience with certification required. 
  • Requires a minimum of six (6) years of Human Resources experience in an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist capacity 
  • Customer focused with proven relationship building strengths. Strong business acumen and analytic capability to identify and diagnose pressing business challenges.
  • Financial acumen, competent in understanding financial statements and the overall financial health of the business.
  • Excellent communication skills- to be influential in optimizing stakeholder’s collaboration. The ability to present powerful presentations that drive stakeholders to action and be thoughtful in overcoming objections and secure stakeholder agreement to HR recommendations. 
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office suite and internet research skills are required.
  • The ability to thrive in a high-change, fasted paced environment.

 

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment.  
  • PHR, SPHR or SHRM certifications.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently. 
  • Visual acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.
  • Hearing ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions. 
  • Working conditions – The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting manufacturing floor. 
  • Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
