Standard Solutions Development Specialist

OBJECTIVE: ATS is focused on bringing innovative technologies to the world’s leading manufacturers as both turnkey automation solutions and automation products.  As a critical member of the global LS applications team this position will be responsible for consolidating the combined global experience related to specific applications and provide standard solutions to our customers in response to requirements generated from the sales organization. Once a solution is defined and developed, the position will then support the roll out and continued maintenance improvement of that solution through both the applications and sales organizations. 





  • Work with sales and business development teams to understand ATS market segments with the objective of identifying differentiation opportunities and translating these into specifications, and new standard solutions and concepts.
  • Engage the global applications and engineering teams to consolidate and develop the best concepts to address each new identified market application.
  • Develop standard costing and third-party suppliers for each solution.
  • Maintain the catalogue and all records associated with each solution, updating based on execution feedback from new projects, changing market conditions, introduction of new suppliers, etc.
  • Ensure each standard solution is applied as appropriate on each new opportunity globally.
  • Educate the global applications and sales team on the technical solutions.
  • Play an active role in concept development with the various teams.
  • Identify and assess risk with each new solution to minimize execution risk and generate the required technical turnover package for each new order won.
  • Become the technology expert understanding capabilities, features and benefits, value to the end-user.
  • Present final solutions to customers.
  • Assist with marketing content generation for the target market.
  • Assist in sales enablement (materials, market bullseye, etc.).
  • Assist and attend technical seminars and industry exhibitions.
  • Assist in formulating departmental strategic plan.
  • Adhere to all International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards.
  • Full compliance to the terms and conditions within the employee signed work from home policy.
  • Comply with all ATS Company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Five (5) - Seven (7) years experience in mechanical/electrical systems design and applications engineering, working knowledge of material handling, robotics, machine controls and manufacturing engineering and processes.
  • Requires solid technical assessment and presentation skills, knowledge of preparing complex proposals and quotes.
  • Familiar with standards and regulations that apply to the design and build of capital equipment for the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and design tools such as 2D and 3D software ACAD or Solidworks.
  • Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) guidance to customer supporting low-cost compliance philosophy.
  • Provide progress updates; alert to problems in technical, budget or timeline issues.
  • Independently present work to senior management.
  • Can drive results through others and work with a variety of people and personalities while adapting to changing conditions and unexpected obstacles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good leadership, organization, and time management skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
