Continuous Improvement Leader


The Continuous Improvement /ATS Business Model (ABM) Champion is responsible for promoting and facilitating the successful implementation of the ATS Business Model within a Division, and specifically with continuous improvement (Kaizen) and effective Problem Solving throughout the organization. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a talented high-potential candidate to make an impact on the organization while learning more about the custom automation industry.


  • Drive ever-improving results by leveraging ATS Business Model (ABM) tools in a hands-on environment: specifically problem solving techniques, standard work, and Kaizen events. 
  • Assist functional teams at the site/division to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and the 8 Value Drivers for ATS through the use of effective problem solving, identification of Kaizen opportunities, and facilitating the Kaizen Process.
  • Directly provide formal and informal ABM training and coaching on basic tools including: Problem Solving, Standard Work, Kaizen Event Process.
  • Coordinate between the ABM Regional Leader(s) and the local site leadership in the development and execution of a ABM roadmap (Plan for training and implementation of ABM Tools at a site)
  • Facilitate leaders throughout the Division in the development of a Kaizen Charter, helping to define the pre-work and daily milestones needed for an effective kaizen event 
  • With guidance from the Value Drivers & KPI’s, the General Manager, and the site leadership, organize and help prioritize Kaizen Events and review them formally with the site leadership to schedule and prioritize activities.
  • In addition to training problem solving, ABM Leaders will ensure KPI owners begin Problem Solving as needed, and ahead of the Monthly Business Review – providing feedback, helping with data, training, and reviewing.
  • Provide hands-on experience to improving processes and solving problems, including Kaizen events and a thorough understanding of current and future processes throughout the organization.
  • Benchmark and incorporate best practices 



WIXOM, MICHIGAN with travel to our location in WOODBRIDGE, ONTARIO when required. 



  • An Engineering degree or equivalent is required, specializing in electronics, electrical, mechanical or controls engineering is preferred. 


  • 3-6+ years of Process Improvement, Engineering, or Operations Manufacturing Experience in a “Lean” Manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on, practical experience applying lean tools and concepts to drive real, sustainable results for the business.
  • Ability to articulate participation experience and impact of Kaizen / Continuous Improvement events; specifically with ability to be a hands-on contributor to process improvement.
  • Ability to accurately assess processes and potential improvements, even outside of direct process expertise (ie., engineering background, with comfort in supply-chain or operational issues. 
  • Ability to work well with all levels of the business, from line-level to General Manager, with superior communication skills (both verbal and written). 
  • Exposure to a variety of ABM (lean) tools (or six sigma or equivalent continuous improvement tools) such as Waste & Value-Add, Formal Problem Solving, Standard Work, Transactional Process Improvements, etc. 
  • Good writing and administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management 
  • High-potential for future growth positions in operations, commercial roles, and leadership roles within the organization.
