Controls Assembly Leader


•    Lead teams of machine and controls assembly professionals as they fit, assemble, wire and build precision tooling, special purpose machinery and mechanical assemblies for robotic work cells and factory automation projects. 
•    Every leader will be assigned to a manageable number of projects (by Assembly Manager) and teamed up with a project manager


•    Schedule project assembly lineup meeting and review build specifications, layouts etc. (if unsuccessful – reschedule)
•    Responsible for building equipment to budget and schedule (high level schedule information is on the company network / budgets are to be received from the PM or Assembly Manager). 
•    Regularly provide feedback to (PM) project manager regarding progress as compared with build schedules and budgets. If deviations occur, escalation to the PM is mandatory.
•    Coach and manage resources to ALWAYS achieve first time quality per specification and ATS workmanship standards
•    Facilitate team meetings to direct activities for effective project execution, to provide project transparency and to resolve or escalate issues
•    Participate in weekly project review meeting with Project Manager and Department managers.
•    For all site assignments related to projects, a service release meeting is to be held so that proper allocation of resources, materials and skills is ensured.
•    Maintain and manage project status board with all relevant information:
o    up-to-date project layout
o    up-to-date project schedule
o    current issues list / assigned people / completion target dates
o    any other relevant information for project success
•    Organize and maintain organization of build area – major focus:
o    Maintain a work efficient layout
o    5S: “Everything in its place and a place for everything”
o    Straightening the workplace is required EVERY day with the assigned resources


•    Interpret drawings, schematics, and other specifications to determine best practices 
•    Prepare parts using relevant hand tools, shop equipment, and other hardware.
•    Verify dimensions and alignments using the appropriate measuring device.
•    Must be able to recognize function and relationship of all details within assemblies.
•    Able to use all tools involved in floor assembly.
•    Assemble stations as well as all other basic tasks associated with floor wiring and assembly.
•    Involved in complete integration of systems, as well as handle customer parts during debug and acceptance phases.
•    Participate in and guide teardown and shipping.
•    Travel to customer sites as required.
•    Support site installation and customer acceptance.
•    Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct and Employee Handbook.
•    Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.



A grade 12 diploma or equivalent experience is required.


This position requires a practical working knowledge of the operation of relevant mechanical and controls assembly equipment, an ability to read design specifications, schematics and drawings, and supervisory and team leadership experience.
