MAJOR DUTIES
In addition to fulfilling the requirements of the Mechanical Designer, a Project Lead’s responsibilities also include the duties listed below.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• General supervision and guidance of all Mech Design (MD) Engineers and Designers assigned to their project by the Mech Design Manager or Director
• Leads and mentors the MD project team members
• Assigns the MD project team the day to day direct labour activities associated with a project
• Ensures, checks and approves that work produced by the assigned MD project team members are acceptable based on the functionality, adherence to ATS design standards, completeness and consideration for safety
• Visit’s shop routinely to assess build progress, offer assistance as required to support build and integration
• Prepares and maintains Detailed Design Plans to track labour and schedule forecast information
• Collaborate with the project team (all disciplines) on execution improvement plans (materials and labour) for projects assigned to his/her team
• Ensures that scheduled milestones and labor budgets received for the project relating to design and integration are achieved
• Oversees all MD aspects of a projects execution related to internal and external customer requirements/inputs
• Oversees all MD aspects of a projects execution related to quality of outputs
• Attends and either conducts or delegates internal and external (customer) Design Reviews
• Works with project team members from other engineering disciplines to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a product or service compliant with their requirements
• Participates in development and implementation of tools, methods and modules ensuring standards maintained
• Adhere to all ISO, Z299 and N285 procedures pertaining to the job responsibilities and project execution
• Ensures that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct
• Adheres to all health and safety rules and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• A post-secondary diploma or degree, within the field of Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
• 10 years minimum demonstrating direct experience gained in an industrial automation environment, producing solutions for automated assembly and test systems.
• Proven leadership qualities in a supervisory position with direct reports.
• Good oral and written communication skills, ability to work with team members, and a willingness to take responsibility for key aspects needed for job completion.
