Our ATS Assembly and Test division is looking for a Senior Controls Technical Lead to join our team in Wixom, Michigan. This influential team member will be responsible for leading a team of controls hardware, fluids, software and robot engineers in designing, debugging, and commissioning assembly and test systems. They will be responsible for knowing and controlling the scope of projects. Must have good organizational skills and the ability to coordinate project teams. Team Lead will be the main Controls point of contact for project. 

- General supervision and guidance of all Controls engineering designers that are part of their team
- Collaborates with Applications Engineering team in support of proposals and owns the jobs won from concept to through-life support.
- Works with other members of the project team, both ATS and non-ATS, to develop a controls architecture that provides the functionality required, based on ATS standards and the customers controls specifications.
- Participates in development and implementation of tools, methods and modules ensuring standards maintained
- Assigns team to the day to day direct labor activities
- Maintains labor, material and schedule forecast information and any appropriate execution improvement plans provided to Program Management for programs assigned to his/her team.
- Ensures that scheduled milestones relating to controls engineering design and integration are achieved
- Ability to completely understand and manage the as sold scope of a project and ability to identify any change in scope internally or with customers 
- Provide input for quoting any new project changes or requests
- Understanding and following customer/project specifications
- Work with Department manager to forecast hours and labor to execute a project
- Schedule and lead Controls team meetings
- Develop and utilize detailed controls status sheet to track and report to project manager and Department manager as needed
- Develop UTS (Unique Technical Specifications) for outside services (ex: Enclosure Build, Vision applications, design outsourcing, spindle applications, etc)
- Ability to manage and track outsourced activities of design and/or enclosure build
- Support Manufacturing during controls execution of project
- Adhere to and ensure all team members all established procedures as defined by ATS Quality Procedures, Process Flows, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures
- Provide input and assist Project manager in creating Acceptance Test Plans
- Collaborate with Controls Manager to ensures that all employees receive job specific training so as to be able to work effectively, and where needed
- Provide feedback for individual performance evaluations to department manager
- Travel may be required for visiting customer sites, external suppliers etc. Possession of a valid U.S. passport may be required. This travel will be infrequent and generally short durations
- Other duties may be expected to support controls department functions

EXPERIENCE:
10 years of experience in systems/controls development and integration of factory automation equipment; thorough understanding of PLC’s, robotics, control systems and machine operation is required. Ability to keep abreast of leading-edge technology is essential. Must have ability to work with and communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization. 

EDUCATION:
An Associate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, System Design, Controls Technology or an equivalent combination of education and 5+ years’ experience in related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred
