Major Duties

The Technical Writer will create, edit and review written content and create illustrations for custom automation systems. The Technical Writer will execute all documentation activities with a high degree of attention to detail and precision through demonstrated exposure to cutting-edge technologies in the automation field.

Job Description

Learn complex concepts and combine text with supporting visual elements to present content in a clear, concise and organized manner.
Create clear, professional illustrations that support written information that follows ATS/Customer standards.
Maintain clarity, conciseness, consistent style, and consistent terminology in documents.
Coordinate with engineering to facilitate the preparation, and creation of technical documentation
Prepare customer documentation which include printed and electronic copies as required and ensure that accurate records are kept.
Organize and index third-party manufacturer documentation.
Support the training and complete other duties as assigned.
Photograph systems and components for record-keeping and documentation purposes.
Routinely track and record status for project technical documentation.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as required.
Perform other technical documentation duties as assigned.
Ability to follow CSA N285/NQA Quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures
Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct and ISO processes.
Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

Engineering technologist college diploma, or equivalent technical field related work experience and education (mechanical technician etc.).

Experience:

Two plus years of experience in technical writing, technical support, or report writing in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint) or equivalent word processing software.
Experience with graphics software (ex. Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Inkscape, Adobe Photoshop, GIMP)
Exceptional communication skills (written and oral), and an aptitude for explaining technical information.

Nice to have:

Experience with CorelDRAW, and Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
Experience with SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
Experience with Adobe FrameMaker.
