Major Duties
The Technical Writer will create, edit and review written content and create illustrations for custom automation systems. The Technical Writer will execute all documentation activities with a high degree of attention to detail and precision through demonstrated exposure to cutting-edge technologies in the automation field.
Job Description
- Learn complex concepts and combine text with supporting visual elements to present content in a clear, concise and organized manner.
- Create clear, professional illustrations that support written information that follows ATS/Customer standards.
- Maintain clarity, conciseness, consistent style, and consistent terminology in documents.
- Coordinate with engineering to facilitate the preparation, and creation of technical documentation
- Prepare customer documentation which include printed and electronic copies as required and ensure that accurate records are kept.
- Organize and index third-party manufacturer documentation.
- Support the training and complete other duties as assigned.
- Photograph systems and components for record-keeping and documentation purposes.
- Routinely track and record status for project technical documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as required.
- Perform other technical documentation duties as assigned.
- Ability to follow CSA N285/NQA Quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct and ISO processes.
- Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
Qualifications
Education:
- Engineering technologist college diploma, or equivalent technical field related work experience and education (mechanical technician etc.).
Experience:
- Two plus years of experience in technical writing, technical support, or report writing in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint) or equivalent word processing software.
- Experience with graphics software (ex. Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Inkscape, Adobe Photoshop, GIMP)
- Exceptional communication skills (written and oral), and an aptitude for explaining technical information.
Nice to have:
- Experience with CorelDRAW, and Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
- Experience with SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
- Experience with Adobe FrameMaker.
