Project Coordinator

MAJOR DUTIES

 

Works with the customer and ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. Project Management - Automation team to provide project and technical support.  Major responsibilities include coordinating, facilitating and driving project scoping, planning and execution to ensure work is completed to the required quality standards on schedule and on budget.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 

•    Will be assigned as coordinator under a dedicated Project Manager for assigned projects.
•    Preparation and maintenance of schedules and resource forecasting 
•    Work closely with PMs and project team to analyze schedule and forecast on a weekly basis and monitor project performance against both schedule and cost. 
•    Attend/participate in Production Meeting with PMs, Leaders reviewing current project schedules and forecast. Ensure any discrepancies in forecast or schedule are flagged and communicated.
•    Responsible for coordinating schedules update and progress on design tasks to the Engineering Managers and the Project Manager including:
•    Identify issues delays and plan contingency action/recovery plan as required.
•    Work closely with resource groups by task normally starting with Mechanical Design and identify ATS standard gate milestones.
•    Maintain close contact with Supply Chain and PPL to ensure that required materials are being delivered as agreed and planned during PEP Meeting.
•    Work closely with PM and project team to revise schedule and baseline capturing any CORs throughout the life of the project. Must include impact to all tasks based on dependencies in schedule. 
•    Work closely with PM and project team to identify if too many/too few labour hours are being booked to the project relative to PM forecast to protect against negative impact to schedule or budget.   
•    Co-ordinating, facilitating and driving project scoping, planning, execution, and close out.
•    Arrange and lead meetings to coordinate the requirements of internal and external customers as directed by the project manager.

Additional Responsibilities:
•    Review and maintain awareness of all corporate and local procedures pertinent to engineering, quality assurance and project management. Maintain process compliance during project execution and advise supervisor if compliance cannot be achieved.
•    Advocate and foster a team environment within the PM department and throughout the division working closely with all departments.
•    Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
•    Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, or alternately a trade certificate in a related filed.

 

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in factory automation or manufacturing environment, including experience leading teams or projects.
  • A working knowledge of automation principles including pneumatics, hydraulics, controls, and electrical devices
  • Fluent in English, written and oral.
  • Proficient with Microsoft software tools including MS Project, Word, Excel and Power Point etc
  • Proficiency in planview project management software is an asset (will be trained)
  • Must possess a valid passport (or be able to obtain one) for periodic international travel.
