Junior Mechanical Designer

Job Description

•    Collaborates with Applications Engineering team in support of proposals and owns the jobs won from concept to through-life support.
•    Works with other members of the project team, both ATS and non-ATS, to develop a Mechanical design that provides the functionality required, based on ATS standards and the customers specifications.
•    Participates in development and implementation of tools, methods and modules ensuring standards maintained.
•    Works with other members of the Mechanical Engineering department and other teams to continuously improve methods and tools for Mechanical design, driving enhanced modularity, standardization, and functionality.
•    Works with members of the Mechanical Engineering department and other teams to ensure that cost and schedule budgets are adhered to or improved upon.
•    Ensures, checks and approves that all work product they produce is acceptable based on the functionality, adherence to standards, accuracy, completeness, and consideration for safety. 
•    Maintains labor, material and schedule forecast information and any appropriate execution improvement plans provided to Program Management for programs assigned to his/her team.
•    Ensures that scheduled milestones relating to Mechanical engineering design are achieved.
•    Reviews and evaluates new Mechanical design related products to provide a cost effective, and up-to-date mechanical solution.
•    Works with team members, customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a product or service compliant with their requirements.
•    Follows all Health and Safety procedures, established by the Company.  
•    Ensures that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
•    Adheres to all health and safety rules and procedures.

•    Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
•    Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tag out methods
•    Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts 
•    Report defect in any equipment or protective device
•    Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
•    Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
•    Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
•    Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
•    Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct

Additional Information

1-3 years of demonstrated experience in an industrial development environment, producing custom machinery design. Proven leadership qualities including; good oral and written communication skills, ability to work with team members, and a willingness to take responsibility for key aspects needed for job completion.  This includes hands-on experience in manufacturing and machine debug.

A post-secondary diploma, degree or equivalent qualification, specializing in mechanical design.
