Controls System Software Engineer

The Field Service Controls Engineer is be responsible for providing technical service support for Comecer equipment to our North American (NA) customers. Specifically with regard the the controls aspects of Comecer systems including Siemens and Rockwell PLC/HMI. This position will help drive the sales of Comecer After Sales Service maintenance agreements, service interventions, service upgrades, disposable kits, and spare parts and participate and support the SAT, IQ/OQ and PQ activities for new installations

 

This position will include activities for Radiopharma, Pharma and Cell & Gene Therapy (ATMP) projects in North America; including, but are not limited to:

  • Radiopharma – shielded hot cells and automation, synthesis and dispensing modules for vials and syringes, LAF shielded isolators, sterility testing isolators, VPHP generators for sterilization, solid target processing systems, dose calibrators, and VPHP sterilization modules
  • Pharma  – aseptic handling and filling of liquid and powder APIs, dispensing custom R&D isolators, potent API processing Isolators (PAPI), modular sterility testing isolators (MSTI), ATEX isolators, Baby Phill small batch vial filling, Aseptic filling line for RTU vials syringes, cartridges, fully automated combination product end-to-end filling systems, Speedy Glove™, SuperTrak™ Pharma Flow Fillers
  • Cell & Gene Therapy (ATMP) – modular cell culture isolator (MCCI), incubation system for advanced therapy labs FlexyCult™, ValueCell Fill

 

 

Key Responsibilities:
Field Service:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the industrial equipment manufactured by the Comecer Group at customer sites in the United States and Canada.
  • Provide remote technical support by telephone and online (Help Desk level 1 & 2) for customers
  • Utilize internal FUSION software to create and track machine issues using service tickets. 
  • Execute service at customer sites based on instructions received by the Service Planner. Create work reports and other service documentation and update internal records using FUSION.
  • Diagnose and address equipment problems in a timely manner. Clearly explain to the customer’s satisfaction the diagnosis and repair of the machine. Address difficult customer situations in a professional manner.
  • Serve as a support engineer to customers for Controls Engineering issues especially regarding Siemens and Rockwell PLC/HMI support as well as other controls and electrical/electronic systems provided with Comecer equipment and systems.

 

Commercial:

  • Ship and receive customer orders, stock shipments, and installation equipment.
  • Order and track spare parts and consumables inventory. Proactively adjust stock to effectively handle future customer needs and ensure availability of critical stock.
  • Organize the archive of user manuals, recommended spare parts lists, and technical documentation related to the equipment installed in the United States and Canada.
  • Seek out and negotiate maintenance packages including service contracts and spare parts sets. 
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, vendors, and customers. Seek opportunities to expand network and promote Comecer and ATS brands.
  • Continually seek technical and product training.

Qualifications:

  • At least a five-year Industrial Technical diploma with Mechanical / Electrical emphasis or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to debug and perform programming adjustments to Comecer equipment including Siemens and Rockwell PLCs/HMIs, PCs, and other controls software utilized in Comecer solutions.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults on industrial equipment using appropriate instrumentation and controls interfaces.
  • An excellent understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical components, along with the ability to read drawings is essential. 
  • Experience with troubleshooting automation systems. 
  • Must be able to work in a multi-disciplined environment, often under pressure and strict time constants.  Experience in dealing with customers to resolve problems is required.
  • Driven continuous improvement mentality and experience with conducting problem-solving exercises, root cause analysis and success implementation of initiatives.  
  • Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills with fluency in English both written and oral
  • Possesses excellent time-management skills.
  • Resilient, ability to remain calm under pressure, self-driven, attentive to detail, consistent, and process driven.
  • Proficient with Microsoft software tools including Word, Excel and Power Point, Outlook, etc.
  • Must be eligible and able to travel domestically & internationally within 30 days from hire date and legally eligible to operate a vehicle, as this is an essential job function.
