Engineering Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Technical coordination and operational development of the India Engineering Hub, ensuring the execution of 3D and 2D mechanical design activities, the control of manufacturing documentation, and the progressive transfer of competencies from Comecer S.p.A. to the India team. Supports the growth of local engineering capabilities while maintaining the technical interface and governance with the Technical Management and Lead Engineers in Castel Bolognese.
  • Also contributes to the development of local competencies related to assembly support, industrialization, cost reduction, regional supplier scouting and, in the longer term, technical support for Service activities in the APAC region.

Duties:

  • Coordinates and supports the preparation of 2D manufacturing drawings, including BOM notes, tolerances, and material and treatment checks, submitting critical items for approval by the Engineering team in Castel Bolognese.
  • Performs and coordinates 3D model reviews, checking consistency, interferences, manufacturability, and alignment between models and drawings, with final validation by the Lead Engineer.
  • Supports the execution of special projects through the development of 3D and 2D designs for sold special products, interfacing with PEL and Technical Management.
  • Scouts LCC suppliers and evaluates local sourcing opportunities for components, parts, and pre-assembled units.
  • Contributes to DFM and cost-reduction activities through simplification proposals, standardization opportunities, LCC supplier feasibility assessments, and preparation of the related business cases.
  • Supports the onboarding and technical development of the India team through training on products, processes, engineering standards, company tools, the Quality Management System, and technical documentation.
  • Supports the progressive transition from closely supervised activities to autonomous management of work packages and standard product families.
  • Contributes to the development of a scalable competence center, maintaining technical alignment with Comecer S.p.A. and supporting faster response to customers in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

Main interfaces:

 

Technical Management / Lead Engineer

  • For the validation of 3D reviews and critical design elements.
  • For the review of DFM, standardization, and cost-reduction proposals.
  • For final decisions concerning components, assemblies, and assembly support.
  • For the technical governance of special projects. 

 

India Engineering Team

  • For the assignment and coordination of work packages.
  • To support the team's progression from supervised execution to autonomous management of standard product families.
  • To develop multidisciplinary competencies and prepare future Technical Leaders.

 

Local and Regional Suppliers

  • For the assignment and coordination of work packages.
  • For LCC supplier scouting.
  • For technical clarifications related to components and assemblies.
  • For the development of local sourcing and pre-assembly capabilities.



Required competencies and skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of 3D CAD tools (Solid Edge)
  • Knowledge of and experience working with Product Data Management (PDM) systems
  • In-depth knowledge of technical drawing applied to precision mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of construction materials and commonly adopted engineering solutions
  • Strong focus on component standardization and the adoption of standardized design solutions
  • Experience in sheet-metal design
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
