Manager - Ignition/MS SQL Development

Job Description

Job Title: Ignition/MS SQL Developer (Manager/Team Lead)
Location: Asheville, NC
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Ignition/MS SQL Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Ignition SCADA development and proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, with experience in database design, scripting, and troubleshooting. This role involves creating, deploying, and managing data-driven applications in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Ignition Development:
1.    Design, develop, and maintain Ignition applications, dashboards, and HMIs.
2.    Configure and manage Ignition Gateways, projects, and tags.
3.    Integrate Ignition with PLCs, OPC servers, and other industrial devices.
4.    Implement scripting and automation using Python in Ignition.
SQL Server Development:
1.    Design and optimize database schemas, tables, views, and indexes.
2.    Develop, test, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
3.    Analyze and troubleshoot database performance issues.
4.    Implement data integration solutions, including ETL processes.
Integration & Data Analytics:
1.    Integrate data from Ignition applications with Microsoft SQL Server.
2.    Create real-time data analytics and reporting solutions.
3.    Work with APIs and third-party integrations to enhance system functionality.
Collaboration:
1.    Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, IT, and operations.
2.    Provide training and technical support for Ignition and SQL-based solutions.
3.    Ensure documentation of all development activities and system configurations.
Maintenance & Optimization:
1.    Monitor system performance and implement improvements as needed.
2.    Perform regular system updates and ensure data security compliance.
3.    Troubleshoot issues and provide timely resolutions.
Qualifications
1.    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2.    Proven experience with Ignition SCADA platform (Ignition 8.1 preferred).
3.    Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server (database design, T-SQL scripting, and optimization).
4.    Experience in Python scripting, especially within Ignition.
5.    Familiarity with industrial protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus, BACnet).
Preferred:
1.    Experience in manufacturing, process control, or industrial automation environments.
2.    Knowledge of Ignition Perspective and Vision modules.
3.    Understanding of network architecture and IT/OT convergence.
4.    Certifications in Ignition or Microsoft SQL Server.

Additional Information

Responsibilities for Health, Safety and Environment include:
1.    Team Leads are responsible for promoting, monitoring and enforcing work practices which support the prevention of workplace illness and injury, as well as protection of the environment.
2.    Ensure that equipment, materials and protective devices are functioning in a safe manner

8.    Conduct periodic inspections and audits in accordance with legislative and/or corporate requirements
9.    Conduct accident/incident investigations, prepare necessary reports and communicate to line management, health and safety personnel and health and safety committee
10.    Ensure that all employees, including temporary workers and contractors, adhere to safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment
11.    Support activities and initiatives outlined by the Joint Health and Safety Committee
