Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

Duties: The Mechanical Designer sketches, designs, details, and checks work per given design tool.  The objective is to design products to perform effectively within the budget and schedule.  Must understand customer design and build specifications.

Responsibilities:

•Creates 3D designs to customer requirements.
•Assist the Mechanical Engineering Manager / Supervisor and/or Leader in conducting high level engineering assignments.
•Attends or facilitates customer, vendor and internal reviews when required.
•Checks all aspects of given tool design for intended use and cost effectiveness.
•Fields telephone calls from build suppliers and shop personnel for engineering problems and associated issues.
•Ensures designs are cost effective.
•Mentors and guides other Mechanical Designers to increase their skills/knowledge.
•Works as a team player in group and with other departments.
•Other duties as assigned.
•Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct
•Work in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental procedures

Qualifications: Education and Experience

•Engineering degree with Mechanical engineering preferred
•Three to seven years of related experience

•Solid NX experience required.
•GD&T understanding 
•SolidWorks 
•DFM

•Work in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental procedures
•Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
•Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts 
•Report defect in any equipment or protective device
•Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
•Attend all required health, safety, and environmental training
•Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
•Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
•Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct
