Manufacturing Supervisor

Job Description

Major Duties:

Supervise and coordinate the mechanical, pneumatic/fluid power, electrical and installation activities. Ensure that the installation is conducted in accordance with customer standards and project specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Installation Lead will be responsible for macro-level job planning activities such as project planning and staging; equipment procurement and rental; project safety, build facility workflow strategies; and project progress monitoring.

Specific Responsibilities: 

•    Work closely with engineering, project management, and procurement to review high-level program build and/or installation feasibility, constraints, quality, or timing.
•    Plan to execute work within established budgets. Report monthly metrics on assigned projects.  Forecast cost to complete on a monthly basis for remaining work.  
•    Manage resources to execute within established schedule. Report monthly on workforce utilization and make recommendations when below established targets. 
•    Manage daily assignments and efficiency expectations of direct and indirect contractor manpower.
•    Manage powered equipment requirements (cranes, man lifts, water chilling systems, etc.).
•    Oversee special tooling requirements (such as large rigging equipment).
•    Ensure compliance with PA Solutions HSE and LMS requirements.
•    Report on adherence to quality standards (workmanship standards, appearance, safety, re-work, etc.) to engineering and project management as required.  
•    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and champion successful results of the initiatives.  
•    Supervise installation activities of manufacturing teams, applying knowledge of manufacturing codes, best practices, and procedures while adhering to customer standards and project specifications.
•    Analyze such customer standards and project specifications to determine and document the best and most cost-effective components, installation techniques, standard work instructions (SWIs), SOPs, and training required.
•    Perform systematic quality checks of installation and build.
•    Ensure that all personnel over whom they have responsibility comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its Regulations and the ATS Health and Safety and Environment (“HSE”) Program.  
•    Ensure that every reasonable precaution is taken to provide for the health and safety of employees in the workplace. To this end, carry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate        requirements.
•    Ensure that training is provided to all departmental employees are pre-established in the training matrix.
•    Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
•    Ensure that appropriate equipment, materials, and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition.
•    Support employees as questions, concerns or feedback rises. As well as provide information, instruction, and supervision to employees.

Additional Information

Education and Experience:

•    AS in an engineering related discipline is preferred.  
•    Minimum of ten years of automotive manufacturing systems build and installation experience.  Minimum of five years of supervision or management experience required.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 
•    Excellent team-building and interpersonal skills. 
•    Technical competencies in manufacturing (e.g. technical drawings, blueprints, CAD/CAM)

•    Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees.
