Engineering Manager
Job Description
Responsible for the Engineering departments of the Transportation business vertical for the US operations. Directs and oversees business engineering practices, including the effective optimization of departments, processes, people, and materials for “best in class” integrated tooling system for Automotive and Aerospace verticals.
Oversee the introduction of new/modified tools for OEM’s and Tiers. Accountability over Mechanical Design, Hardware Design, and Software Design (PLC/Robotics). Provides insight and develops priorities for engineering projects and services, while ensuring engineering performance and quality goals are met.
To be considered successful in this role, it is expected that the Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing and guiding the development and execution of engineering projects while ensuring the team’s productivity and efficiency. Primary focus will be on coordinating resources, managing timelines, fostering collaboration, and promoting a culture of innovation. Additional support to the Sales function will also be required as needed.
Responsibilities:
Adherence to PA/ATS processes, policies, documentation requirements, reporting, etc.
High level project performance monitoring & forecasting with applicable corrective actions to resolve issues/concerns.
Assess the feasibility of new technologies by identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices to ensure seamless integration.
Embraces the ATS Business Model (ABM) in the Pursuit of Excellence with focus on People, Process and Performance.
Lead with a “can do” attitude and foster the same throughout the project teams.
Manage the relationship with the client and all applicable stakeholders.
Partners with the Director of Manufacturing and Project Management to ensure financial and project targets are met.
Leverage Sr. Management for problem solving and guidance as necessary.
Coordinate and prioritize engineering projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and on-time delivery.
Ensure systematic quality checks/design reviews of projects at all gates are conducted.
Create a high-performance culture by setting high expectations, empowerment, providing coaching/feedback, and reviewing team performance to ensure the highest performance standards.
Management of process engineers providing guidance, mentorship and support for their professional growth and development.
Ensure that all activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
Demonstrate leadership in Health & Safety compliance and drive a safe working culture.
Regional and global resource coordination to ensure highest value of properly trained team members, maximizing utilization and cost levers.
Overall accountability for turnover and resource development under areas of control.
Support sales efforts and drives new opportunities independently.
Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team in an intentional, focused, respectful, and highly engaged manner .
Understand and manage the levers to directly influence project timing, quality, and associated financial metrics (budget, utilization, margin expansion, timing, cost optimization, etc.).
Strong business acumen.
A mindset of continuous improvement and a thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies.
Additional Information
Experience Required:
Minimum of 10 years of Automation related Management experience within the automotive, off-highway, or aerospace verticals.
Managing an automation project portfolio of more than $75M annualized.
In depth understanding of Mechanical Design, Hardware Design, Software Design, and Project Management methodology.
Solid organizational skills, including, but not limited to, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
Demonstrated success in leading efforts designed to grow and scale business.
In-depth understanding of the P&L and associated levels to improve.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Education:
BS in either Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing related fields is required
MS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing is preferred
PMP certification or MBA is a plus

Provide information, instruction, and supervision to employees
Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees
