Supplier Development Engineer

Position Title:    Supplier Development Engineer (SDE)
Department:     Global Category Management 
Reports To:      Global Category Manager
Location:          Asia

Job Summary:


The Supplier Development Engineer's role is to assist in the selection, qualification, maintenance, and development of suppliers. 


The SDE will help and support the Global Supplier Quality and Development manager to develop a partnership with suppliers and give training and support to decrease the risks associated with non-conforming goods. In addition, the SDE will assist Category Managers in the establishment of Target Costs and will also manage product costs to meet targets while maximizing value. The SDE will be a key communicator when it comes to collaborative Product and Process Development.

What You Will Do:


• Early involvement in new projects, layout and set proper evaluation in place and hold vendors accountable on assuring their ability to meet company requirements, goals, and objectives. 
• Provides quality engineering and Lean expertise to continuous improvement and manufacturing support teams with ATS divisions. 
• Help and support improving supplier process and procedures 
• Support Global Supplier Quality Managers in developing suppliers and resourcing initiatives globally
• Work and support on potential new supplier initial audits
• Support new supplier identification and selection process for different categories in Asia
• Support new suppliers onboarding process 
• Support divisions on suppliers ‘quality and productivity improvement activities
• Investigate concerns using structured approach, 8D/PPS (Product Performance Specification) methodology for both technical and system related problems
• Ability to identify supplier improvements (process, quality system) and ensure effective actions are taken to improve
• Support / Lead quality and productivity improvement Kaizen activities with suppliers and develop supplier improvement plans
• Develop manage and report supplier performance KPI’s
• Liaise with vendors for technical information and specifications.
• Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards.
• Traveling when and where required (upward of 35%) to support multiple plant locations in Europe, North American, and Asia.
• Assumes and performs other duties as assigned

What You Will Need:


• A degree in a purchasing related field, business management, engineering, or equivalent discipline 


• Minimum 5 years of work experience, preferable in the field of Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing, Quality Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of work experience, preferable in the field of Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing, Quality Engineering Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PP, Projects management and other MS Office software
• Strong fundamental knowledge on different manufacturing process and reading drawings
• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PP, Projects management and other MS Office software
• Good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interact a multi-disciplinary team environment
