  • Supervisor: Mechanical Engineering Team Lead
  • Duration: 4 months (September – December)
  • Location: Cambridge, ON (Onsite)
  • Range: $20.44 - $30.43

Job Description

Job Summary:

As an Automation Designer – Mechanical Co-op, this individual will execute projects and create detailed drawings and designs, for industry leading customers in collaboration with the Mechanical Engineering team.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create modifications to existing designs based on the engineering assessment of the requirements using SolidWorks.
  • Prepare drawings from designs and sketches applying ASME Y14.5 and using SolidWorks.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, correct materials, proper machining techniques, finishes, hardness, etc. and execute necessary changes.
  • Complete designs based on concepts, sketches and required engineering analysis.
  • Work and support various projects in multidisciplinary teams including controls software, electrical design, and mechanical assembly.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

 

Education:

  • Successful completion of 2 semesters from a college or university specializing in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.

 

Required Skills:

  • Creativity and passion for design
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Proficiency in generating drawings for manufacturing with appropriate fits and tolerances (ASME Y14.5)
  • Familiarity with automation building blocks:
    • materials in mechanical design.
    • pneumatic actuators and valves
    • motors, sensors, bearings...
  • Successful completion of a previous co-op term in Mechanical Design is an asset.

  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
