Buyer
Job Description
Reporting to the Purchasing Team Leader, the Buyer will source, negotiate, and purchase a variety of commodities in accordance with departmental goals, objectives, and best practices. The Buyer will also be involved in Purchase Order management – confirmations, expediting, problem resolution and processing NCR’s.
Responsibilities include:
· Process purchasing documentation (i.e. Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Cancellation Forms and non-conforming product) in accordance with ATS policies and procedures.
· Track, monitor and maintain purchase order deliveries to drive on-time delivery to schedules.
· Communicate with, evaluate and approve suppliers to ascertain their ability to meet company requirements, goals and objectives.
· Negotiate prices, discounts and delivery arrangements with suppliers.
· Resolve invoicing discrepancies and approve for payment.
· Prepares reports and data as required.
· Assist Senior & Intermediate Buyers with special projects and/or tasks as required.
Continuous Improvement:
· Understand the ATS Business Model (ABM) fundamentals, value drivers and concepts, and be accountable within your role to objective data analysis, reporting and driving continuous improvement
· Identify and complete low-medium complexity Continuous Improvement opportunities (e.g. Just Do It)
Qualifications
Education
· A post-secondary diploma or degree in materials management or equivalent. Supply Chain Canada (or equivalent) designation is an asset.
Experience
· Theoretical or hands-on knowledge of purchasing or materials management concepts is an asset.
· Experience in a custom manufacturing environment is an asset.
· Sound working knowledge of MS Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Teams)
· Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated ability to interact in a team environment.
