Job Description
Major Duties
Responsible for promoting and implementing health, safety and environmental programs in Industrial Automation Cambridge, Woodbridge, and Wixom sites in support of the corporate Health, Safety and Environment Standards. Acts as an internal technical resource to provide guidance and training on a variety of health, safety and environment issues.
Specific Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving success in accident prevention through implementation of Company programs to promote and improve Health & Safety.
- Provides expertise and leadership in anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of health/safety hazards and related compliance at the site
- Drives compliance with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) training by working with departments for scheduling, external training, and provides internal training for ATS specific program requirements.
- Monitors and audits field related activities to ensure HSE programs are being adhered to
- Implement and administers standardized plant HSE processes to ensure compliance to applicable government regulations as well as and corporate standards
- Drives attainment of organizational goals through the elimination of environmental impacts, occupational injuries/lilnesses. property damage and improvement of production efficiency as well as safeguarding the health and safety of all employees
- Analyzes injury/illness cxperience, identifying/tracking injury correlation, determining root causes, establishing corrective action measures; analyze environmental incidents, determine root causes, and ensures appropriate corrective actions are implemented and maintained
- Coordinates communication of HSE regulatory inspection activity with site leadership
- Participates in the development and continuous improvement of global HSE initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations and industry leading safety practices.
- Provides and maintains accurate statistical data, reports and analysis of injury trends to operations in support of divisional accident reduction gools.
- Reviews all accident investigation reports to ensure appropriate internal and external reporting is completed and followed-up within timeframes and participate in investigations where required. Oversees the "Battery Safety Program" and ensures all necessary items are in compliance per customer and local
- requirements. Ensures that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct
- Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
- Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energles are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
- Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
- Report defect in any equipment or protective device
- Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
- Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
- Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
- Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
- Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health and safety related disc pline
Education:
- Professional HSE designation preferred but not required
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum six years of hands-on health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong understanding of HSE regulatory framework in USA and Canada and global experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple demands under tight timelines
