MAJOR DUTIES:
The Lead Financial Reporting will be a key team member within the Reporting and Compliance team supporting the Cambridge Life Sciences Systems business (>$500M revenue). This role combines technical accounting expertise with strong execution, with primary responsibility for overseeing financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
The Lead will own the month-end close and reporting processes, ensure financial integrity and compliance with IFRS and SOX, and provide meaningful insights to support business decision-making. This role will partner closely with business leaders, Corporate Finance, and auditors, while driving process improvements and strengthening the control environment.
The role reports into the Manager Financial reporting & compliance and be based out of Cambridge.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
FINANCIAL REPORTING AND ACCOUNTING
• Own and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close and reporting processes
• Monthly reconciliation of any B/S accounts associated with the business unit.
• Developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives with respect to the finance processes within the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
• Responsible for ensuring that the Cambridge Systems Division financial reporting is in accordance with IFRS.
• Responsible for preparing audit working papers on a quarterly basis, ensuring that all accounts are reconciled.
• Intercompany reconciliations and reporting & assisting with other monthly corporate reporting
• Assisting with cash forecasting & Forecast foreign cash flows for determination of hedge settlement
INTERNAL CONTROL, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
• Ensure adherence to IFRS and SOX
• Own the design, implementation, and ongoing effectiveness of financial controls
• Review and challenge existing processes to ensure robust, scalable controls
• Providing early warning of business and financial risks along with opportunities to allow accurate, timely information for business decisions.
• Reviewing and assessing areas of business risk within the division, and, working with the Manager Financial Reporting & Compliance to develop policies to minimize or eliminate that risk where possible
Others
• Ensuring any financial risks are mitigated (credit/FX/transfer pricing/taxes) & building in cost of financing & EDC costs to any bids
• Supporting Financial planning and budgeting processes
• Identify and implement automation and standardization opportunities
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and oversight to Senior financial analysts and Coops within the Reporting and Compliance team
Additional Information
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Degree in Finance or Accounting.
• CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
Experience & Requirements:
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.
• 8–12+ years of progressive accounting, reporting, or audit experience
• Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred) and Microsoft Outlook
• Superior Excel skills: Pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, modelling, etc.
• Ability to determine relevant information for the target audience to provide informational requirements in a meaningful manner.
• Must be hands-on, detail-oriented, able to consistently meet deadlines
• Strong organizational, planning, time management and problem-solving skills.
• Highly motivated, dependable, and customer-focused team player
• Independent and able to work with minimal supervision and guidance in a team-oriented work environment
Health and Safety
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
- Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment compliance.
- Hold team members accountable for health, safety and environmental compliance as part of the annual performance review process.
- Ensure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintained.
- Carry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirements.
- Ensure that training is provided to all departmental employees are per established in the training matrix.
- Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition.
- Provide information, instruction and supervision to employees.
- Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees.
- Attend HSE Due Diligence for Management training sessions.
