Quality Inspector

Major Duties

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring components are processed through the quarantine area/inspected in a timely manner and creating history files for shipment with the system.

Job Description

  • Inspection of product to verifying conformance to requirements; complete inspection reports
  • Review all documentation as required by the MITP to ensure it is correct and complete
  • Receiving Inspection of unqualified/qualified source material, machine components and hardware.
  • Inspection of incoming parts and associated supplier documentation
  • Complete In process and Final Inspection
  • Set up quality documentation job files and ensure accuracy to ATS and contract requirements
  • Liaise with Quality Assurance and Design groups for quality documentation requirements
  • Liaise with Manufacturing / Purchasing groups regarding quality and / or documentation issues
  • Initiating Nonconformance and Corrective/Preventive Action reports as required. Liaise with departments regarding Nonconforming product to ensure expedient disposition.
  • Create history files for shipment to customer with release of machine / system – liaise with customers
  • Maintain the quarantine and office area and file quality records daily/weekly
  • Conduct internal and external product quality, process and ISO compliance audits
  • Source inspection may be required – ensure Source Inspection reports are completed
  • Travel may be required.
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A minimum technical grade twelve education and/or additional upgrading courses involving calibration and quality technology.
  • ASQ CQT is an asset.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a calibration environment
  • 3 years experience working in an environment with applications in:  mechanical equipment & components, heat treating, plating, welding & painting applications
  • Working experience with ISO 9001, CSA N299
  • Basic problem solving ability.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Strengths in operating CMM using PC-DMIS and Calypso (an asset)
  • Must be able to read a variety of types of measuring equipment.
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Ability to read detail drawings and assembly drawings as well as have understanding of GD&T
