Job Description
MAJOR DUTIES:
The Strategic Sourcing Manager leads a multi-disciplined team focused on sourcing strategy and execution for direct and indirect categories, unlocking sustainable cost advantages, compressing lead times, improving working capital and elevating supplier performance using strategic sourcing levers.
Partnering with Applications, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Global Supply Chain teams, this role builds resilient supply bases, negotiates best-in-class commercial terms, and drives Supplier on-time delivery (OTD) and quality results. Success is measured against OTD, Purchase Price Variance (PPV), and Quality Metrics.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a team of Supply Chain professionals performing functions such as Cost Estimating, Buying, Supplier Management, and Strategic Sourcing (or others as assigned).
- Expand and leverage pre-qualified “Growth Suppliers” where they provide favorable commercial conditions.
- Deliver measurable cost reductions using purchasing levers, including should-cost analysis, VA/VE workshops, supplier consolidation, and competitive bidding.
- Drive PPV and total cost of ownership (TCO) targets.
- Reduce plan-to-receipt lead times (blanket POs, VMI, consignment inventories), payment term optimization, and dual/multi-sourcing.
- Manage and deliver on aggressive KPI’s (Cost Reductions, OTD, PPV, Supplier Quality)
- Drive Supplier Scorecards, drive monthly business reviews (MBRs) and Continuous Improvement roadmaps.
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders; ensure Engineering and Operations requirements (fit, form, function) are translated into sourcing decisions.
- Manage cost containment, product standardization, supplier consolidation and benchmarking reports, and other supply chain management strategies that maximize value while ensuring that ATS standards are maintained or enhanced.
- Develop, Coach, and Mentor the Strategic Sourcing team.
- Execute the performance management process including conducting performance reviews, delivering progressive discipline etc.
- Maintain favourable Terms and Conditions for ATS.
- Ensure compliance with Supply Chain Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions
Continuous Improvement:
- Understand the ATS Business Model (ABM) fundamentals, value drivers and concepts, and be accountable within your role to objective data analysis, reporting and driving continuous improvement.
- Identify, lead, and complete any level of Continuous Improvement opportunities (e.g., Just Do It, Problem Solving, and Kaizen) using a variety of Continuous Improvement tools and become ABM Bootcamp certified no later than 18 months in the position (internal training will be provided).
- Use Daily Visual Management to drive decisions.
- Lead and sustain Problem Solving activities to improve performance.
Qualifications
Education:
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in materials management or equivalent. Supply Chain Canada (or equivalent) designation is an asset. PMP training or certification is an asset. Manufacturing or Engineering education or experience is an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing, supply chain or sourcing operation.
- Experience in a custom manufacturing environment
- Must be a business professional with strong engineering or supply chain expertise.
- Professional knowledge and experience in Electro-Mechanical components, manufacturing processes, and cost structure will be an advantage.
- Lean Six Sigma Knowledge
- Ability to work independently, good time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient expert level ability in MS Excel
- Strategic thinker, assertive, and able to make decisions independently.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and behaviours focused on customer satisfaction and servant leadership.
- Results oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interface with all organizational levels – internal & external.
- Expert market analysis to dissect market size, players, customers, growth, technology replacements/forecasts, pricing trends, etc., to formulate sourcing strategies.
- Relentless drive to overachieve and no-excuses professional, making the most of resources available, and a team player who can roll up his/her sleeves to get the job done.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically but detailed oriented to support ideology with facts.
- Ability to articulate points of view with executive management but execute plans when directed.

The compensation offered will be based on the local job market and may vary depending on factors such as the job-related knowledge, skills, experience of the selected candidate, as well as other objective business considerations.
