Job Description
ROLE SUMMARY:
The individual will be responsible for ensuring Vehicle is well maintained, all materials are transported securely. Other duties will be to assist in loading and unloading materials to the vehicle in a safe manner.
Responsibilities include:
· Transport materials and equipment locally ensuring safe and timely delivery as per schedule
· Independently apply and operate within the Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR) rules and regulations
· Conduct daily vehicle inspections, reporting any concerns for repair or investigation as per the CVOR and relevant Health and Safety regulations
· Maintains operation of equipment in safe condition in accordance with Plant and Health & Safety rules
· Operate Forklift’s and other material handling equipment to load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently
· Complete all documents in accordance with Ministry of Transportation regulations
· Maintain and complete daily trip logs ensuring accurate and complete record keeping
· Adhere to all Motor vehicle rules and regulations while driving
· Assist with warehouse material handling as needed
· Adhere to Code of Business Conduct
· Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions:
Works alone with little supervision. The environment contains several hazards including motorized vehicles.
Physical Requirements:
May be required to stand/sit at workstations for prolonged periods of time. May be required to perform a wide range of movements including bending, crawling, kneeling, etc. May be required to lift up to 30lbs. May work with odorous substances within confined spaces. Use of hand tools requires significant manual dexterity.
Qualifications
Education
· A grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
Experience
· Two years’ experience driving a 26’ Straight truck or bigger required
· Experience driving a D class vehicle would be an asset
· Two years’ experience and knowledge of the Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR)
· A demonstrated aptitude in safely loading and securing freight for transport
· Any Forklift experience is an asset
· Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
· Holds a valid G and/or D class driver‘s license at minimum
· Has a clean driver abstract with no more than 3 demerit points
