Regional Health, Safety and Environmental Manager (Europe)

Job Description



Responsible for promoting and implementing health, safety and environmental programs in all European-based operations in support of the corporate Health, Safety and Environment Standards.  Acts as an internal  technical resource to provide guidance and training on a variety of health, safety and environment issues.  Participates in internal audits of ATS facilities to ensure compliance to all legislative and corporate requirements.



•    Responsible for driving success in accident prevention through implementation of Company programs to promote and improve Health & Safety.
•    Provides expertise and leadership in anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of health/safety hazards and related compliance at the site
•    Works closely with operations groups to identify risks and proactively develops/implements control methodology for these risks
•    Provides Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) training to employees and visitors
•    Monitors and audits field related activities to ensure HES programs are being adhered to
•    Implement and administers standardized plant HSE processes to ensure compliance to applicable government regulations as well as and corporate standards 
•    Drives attainment of organizational goals through the elimination of environmental impacts, occupational injuries/illnesses, property damage and improvement of production efficiency as well as safeguarding the health and safety of all employees
•    Analyzes injury/illness experience, identifying/tracking injury correlation, determining root causes, establishing corrective action measures; analyze environmental incidents, determine root causes, and ensures appropriate corrective actions are implemented and maintained 
•    Manages environmental compliance issues for European sites including routine environmental reports, permit applications, inventories and surveys; including data acquisition, documentation, record keeping, monitoring, review, and approval and submittal to regulatory agencies
•    Coordinates communication of HSE regulatory inspection activity with divisional leadership 
•    Participates in the development and continuous improvement of global HSE initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations and industry leading safety practices.
•    Provides and maintains accurate statistical data, reports and analysis of injury trends to operations in support of divisional accident reduction goals.
•    Participates in divisional Health & Safety Committee activities, ensuring regular meetings and inspections are taking place, follow up action is being taken, and that required membership and certification requirements are met.
•    Reviews all accident investigation reports to ensure appropriate internal and external reporting is completed and followed-up within timeframes and participate in investigations where required.
•    Oversees workers’ compensation claims management, administration and reporting requirements; assists in the resolution of claims as required.
•    Ensures that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
•    Adheres to all health and safety rules and procedures.

Additional Information




Post secondary degree or diploma in a health and safety related discipline

Experience and Skills:

•    Minimum eight years of hands on health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
•    Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
•    Strong understanding of HSE regulatory framework in Italy
•    Prior experience with multi-country in EU responsibilities strongly preferred
•    Must be able to travel up to 50% of time (within Europe)
