Electrical Assembler

SP Industries Inc. is hiring for our team in Gardiner, NY and has an immediate opening for an Electrical Assembler.

 

In this role, the right candidate will be primarily responsible for electrical assembly and completing work orders to support on-time delivery, quality workmanship, and compliance with internal and external customer requirements. Success requires attention to detail, a focus on operational goals, and clear communication. The candidate should embrace change and continuously seek ways to improve operations, processes, and the customer experience with SP products and services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Prepare and assemble mechanical system components, sub-assemblies, and top-level assemblies under the direction of the immediate supervisor. Prepare equipment for testing.
  • Interpret drawings, process procedures, and other written documentation to prepare and assemble components.
  • Route, wire, assemble, and install electrical and electronic components in freeze dryers, including main junction and terminal boxes, control switch panels, instruments, and valves, according to specifications using jig boards, hand tools, and equipment.
  • Meet documented specifications and quality standards in a cost-effective, timely manner. Track additional expenses, identify ways to reduce costs and improve product quality, and recommend operational improvements and cost savings.
  • Prepare and assemble electro-mechanical systems and sub-assemblies under supervisor direction. Work with control applications, including servos, AC/DC motors and drives, and pneumatics.
  • Use electrical schematics, drawings, process procedures, and other written documentation to prepare and assemble components.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical systems as needed. Assist with preparing equipment for testing.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area, including the assembly section, and complete assigned 5S duties and responsibilities.
  • Complete required manufacturing paperwork accurately and on time, including time and attendance sheets, assembly routers, non-conformance records, and test records.
  • Follow all applicable safety policies, precautions, recommendations, and procedures.
  • Recommend process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and work instructions in compliance with SP’s Quality Management System to support continued ISO certification.
  • Assist other production departments, operations areas, or non-production areas as workload and business needs require. Complete other tasks as assigned by supervision or management.

 

EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION:

  • Minimum high school graduate level required.
  • Must be able to do Shop Math
  • Strong analytical skills are required.
  • Minimum 5 years electro-mechanical building is ideal but not required.
  • Able to work with various voltages, including high voltage applications (440 VAC).
  • A knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) relative to the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
  • PLC experience is a plus.

Payrate : $21-25/hr

  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
