Join our team as a senior Unreal Engine Developer (m/f/d) based in Sweden, Germany or Slovakia.
Drive the development and evolution of our real-time 3D/VR training runtime based on Unreal Engine (C++ and Blueprints) with a strong focus on performance, stability, and maintainability. Contribute significantly to system architecture, define technical guardrails (standards, patterns, performance budgets), and ensure high engineering quality through automation and quality gates. Act as a technical lead (IC) who enables fast delivery without sacrificing long-term sustainability and serves as a sparring partner for engineering and product stakeholders.
The Role
Own and implement core runtime features in Unreal Engine using C++ and Blueprints (40%)
- Implement systems and features in Unreal Engine (Blueprints & C++).
- Ensure clean, reusable, and maintainable Blueprint logic and C++ interfaces.
- Integrate changes safely into the product runtime and support release readiness.
Shape architecture and define technical guardrails (20%)
- Contribute to architecture decisions and modularization (subsystems, modules, plugins).
- Establish standards, patterns, and performance budgets across the runtime.
- Identify technical debt and drive sustainable improvements.
Ensure performance, stability, and debuggability of the runtime (10%)
- Support debugging, profiling, and performance optimization.
- Analyze root causes and prevent regressions through systematic engineering practices.
Build and institutionalize software quality systems and gates (15%)
- Introduce and operate application monitoring (e.g., Sentry) for customer-oriented troubleshooting.
- Introduce and operate code quality monitoring (e.g., SonarQube) and integrate quality gates into workflows.
Improve build, test, and release automation (10%)
- Implement and improve automated build & test (e.g., Jenkins) to increase development speed and quality.
- Establish robust versioning and traceable archive/backup practices for releases.
Collaborate, review, and mentor (technical leadership without people management) (5%)
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Coach less experienced engineers and align across disciplines to ensure predictable delivery.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- More than 8 years of professional experience in commercial / enterprise software projects and hands-on Unreal Engine and C++ development in production environments.
- Strong professional experience with Unreal Engine and implementation using Blueprints and C++.
- Ability to build clean, reusable, and maintainable Blueprint logic and integrate Blueprint ↔ C++ workflows safely.
- Strong C++ engineering skills (debugging, performance thinking, maintainability) and confidence in complex codebases.
- Proven experience introducing and operating application monitoring (e.g., Sentry) to enable fast troubleshooting and long-term quality improvements.
- Proven experience introducing and operating code quality monitoring (e.g., SonarQube) and integrating quality gates into engineering workflows.
- Proven experience implementing automatic build and test (e.g., Jenkins) to increase development speed and quality.
- Experience implementing versioning, release processes, and traceable archive/backup structures.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to architecture and set technical guardrails (standards, patterns, system constraints) collaboratively.
