Vice President, Global Sales (Commercialization)

Job Description

The VP, Global Sales (Commercialization) will be responsible for product sales and customer support through the development and execution of a commercialization strategy.  The VP will build a commercial infrastructure and organization to drive market adoption of the company’s products and be responsible for revenue growth within the organization’s entities globally (US, UK & China). The VP will have responsibility for sales, customer service, and technical support. This position will define appropriate channels to market for the company’s products and services. The position will report to the General Manager and be based in the US.

Responsibilities

•    Delivers strategic leadership for defining the commercial path to growth and profitability of the company and the establishment of an effective growth process and infrastructure. 
•    Develops and leads a world class customer service and technical support organization.
•    Partners with the marketing team to develop the company’s marketing strategy with an emphasis on achieving market penetration and sales growth through cost-effective customer acquisition and market demand generation. 
•    Provides continuity between pre and post sales phases to optimize the customer’s BioDot experience so refinement of message and best practices and win rates are maximized globally.
•    Develops and implements the company’s sales strategy across key market segments to ensure that the company identifies and optimizes a clear path to aggressive growth. 
•    Assesses, builds, leads, and manages an array of necessary channels capable of delivering on the company’s revenue and growth objectives. 
•    Develops a strategy and provides leadership for key account management and business development within strategic customers. 
•    Originates and manages sales opportunities that are consistent with the company’s strategy for revenue growth.
•    Deploys and drives adoption of appropriate tools and processes to improve sales and support productivity and efficiency.
•    Provides revenue forecasts and develops and monitors annual revenue and expense budgets.
•    Reports selected company metrics including but not limited to marketing share, promotional ROI, customer and segment penetration, and channel effectiveness.
•    Supports corporate initiatives as required.
•    Performs other duties as necessary as assigned by management.
•    To continuously improve products, cost reductions, etc., works as part of a cross-functional global team which includes regular interactions with engineering, ops, marketing, support, finance and ATS partner companies and corporate team members.
•    Work independently and make intelligent decisions based on experience and knowledge.
•    Performs other duties as necessary as assigned by management in a “see it, do it” capacity. 

Education and/or Experience

•    Bachelor’s degree in life sciences coupled with at least 10+ years of business and leadership experience in the marketing and sales of life science tools/services to the pharma, biotech, and research communities.  
•    Advanced degree or MBA preferred. 
•    Proven ability to build and lead field and inside sales, technical and customer support, distribution channels, and in selling and marketing services and products.   
•    Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful commercialization strategies.
•    Must have good written and verbal skills including group presentation experience. Needs to clearly communicate technical and nontechnical concepts in a group setting.
•    Strong and demonstrated strategic thinking skills.
•    Ability to think creatively and develop non-traditional solutions to complex business challenges. 
•    Familiarity with CRMs 
•    Ability to be hands-on as well as strategic.
•    At times can require up to 50% domestic and international travel, especially during onboarding period.  Once integrated, travel should be normalized to ~23-30% travel.

A sales professional with experience selling & supporting capital equipment products in the $50k to $1M price range.
