- Range: $20.44 - $30.43

Job Description
Job Summary:
As a Mechatronics Designer, you will help develop world-class mechatronic products and technologies for sophisticated automation equipment. This position will contribute to new and next generation SuperTrak® linear motion conveyor and/or Symphoni™ products and other industry leading mechatronic technologies. These products require a strong combination of mechanics, electronics and software. The primary focus of this role is Mechanical Design, but solutions require a multi-disciplinary approach.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in generating new concepts, designing and validating prototypes, finalizing production designs and assisting in the transfer of new innovations to sales and production.
- Generate concepts to solve new customer mechatronic problems/needs.
- Perform engineering calculations to validate new concepts.
- Generate detailed designs for prototypes ensuring all purchased and manufactured parts meet acceptable cost/performance/delivery.
- Support and assist operations in the building of prototypes.
- Contribute to test plans for prototypes and their execution. Analyze test results.
- Support Sales and Operations during the transfer to production of new products/innovations.
Education:
- Working toward a post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Design Engineering or equivalent
Required Skills:
- Creativity - an out of the box thinker who still has practical grounding.
- The ability to grasp the fundamentals of a problem and then to solve the problem in effective and innovative ways.
- Proficiency in creating high performance, robust and elegant mechanical designs.
- Knowledge of drafting principles
- Ability to deal with high unknowns and to adapt quickly to new learnings from prototypes.
- Team player able to communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in mechanical design using 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
- Strong ability to conceptualize and create solutions.
- A working knowledge of common machine shop techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
