Automation Technician III
Job Description
The Automation Technician III will work with the Assembly Group Lead and Assembly Team to execute assembly project plans and making modifications to the plan as needed to meet or exceed schedule goals. The Automation Technician III will be responsible for maintaining task lists, due dates, and ensuring that both the team and own assignments are understood and executed. Other functions include creating and executing Pre-Acceptance Test Plans (PATP), Final Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) in collaboration with the Project Managers. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed while ensuring safe working habits, clean and organized working areas, and compliance with company Safety and Operating policies and procedures.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Work with Project Manager to develop all test plans including PATP, FAT, and SAT.
- Oversee and participate in building, wiring, and plumbing of equipment to meet ATS standards and customer specifications.
- Participate in complete mechanical and electrical debug, including I/O setup and checkout.
- Work with task scheduler to ensure accurate reporting, assignment, execution, and completion of tasks.
- Oversee and execute all test plans, including PATP, FAT, and SAT.
- Assist with technical training and system installation at customer facilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide input to assembly personnel evaluations.
- Mentor technicians in methods, execution of build and testing process, use of tools, and safe work habits.
- Assist in reporting and updating task lists with task scheduler.
- Supervise and drive execution of tasks with Automation Technicians.
Communication Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, assist with project and test planning, alerting to any labor, schedule, and technical issues, and modifying project plans to meet budget and schedule goals.
- With the Assembly Group Lead, assign tasks and due dates, and ensure completion of PATP, FAT, and SAT.
- Provide suggestions to Engineering for standard components and mechanisms and help resolve technical problems.
- Relay concerns about detail drawings to Manufacturing to reduce drawing revisions.
- Coordinate with the Materials Department on long lead items and material needs.
- Offer technical support to the customer during the design and build phase as required.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with computer navigation and usage, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively gather, compile and interpret data to aid in project execution.
- Ability to lead projects or groups of technicians.
- Proficient mechanical and electrical assembly skills.
- Capability to read mechanical and electrical prints unassisted.
- Experience refining adjustment procedures for set-up mechanisms.
- Knowledge of good assembly practices and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
- Outstanding knowledge of mechanical drawings and practices, electrical diagrams and schematics, pneumatics, and general assembly procedures.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and train teams of technicians.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in an automation-manufacturing environment is preferred.
Other: Overtime and Travel required as needed.
