Project Controller

Job Description

 

ROLE SUMMARY:
A key member of the Finance team of Industrial Automation Columbus, a $300M annual revenue business, your primary role is to provide project financials to the business, helping it to achieve its financial objectives. You will be a business partner for the Leadership and Project Management teams. You and your team lead the FP&A of the business, as it relates to revenue, project profitability, and working capital requirements.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 


OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
•    You and your team will support the Project Management team, to ensure that project financials are in line with planned profitability and working capital requirements. 
•    Review PM’s forecast to ensure integrity
•    Prepare and comment on monthly project and variances and support development of counter-measures
•    Provide financial analysis on gross margin and projects
•    Lead the monthly revenue forecast and annual Revenue planning processes.
•    Support the Group Controller in the preparation of the monthly MBR package, including variance analysis.
•    Assist in the month end, quarter end, and year end reporting requirements
•    Prepare cash flows as required
•    Monitor project milestones ensure that billings are proceeding according to Plan; and support development of counter-measures when they vary.

 

FINANCIAL REPORTING AND ACCOUNTING
•    In conjunction with your team, you ae responsible for the accounting and administration of all contracts in progress including:
•    Setup and maintain job control sheets for customer contracts and change orders
•    Setup and maintain projects in JDE
•    Ensure job margins in JDE are consistent with the project manager’s forecast
•    Liaise with external auditors with respect to project based enquires

 

INTERNAL CONTROL, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
•    Ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner within the business and that the financial reporting standards are applied consistently.  Regularly review policies and procedures with the Group Controller and Finance team to develop an ATS best practice approach for the financial management of the company.  
•    Assist in the development and maintenance of company policies and procedures.
•    Ensure the safeguarding of company assets.
 

Additional Information

 

Education:
Degree in Business, or Accounting, CPA designation required 

 

Experience:
•    Previous exposure to Percentage of Completion Accounting a definite asset. 
•    Exposure to a manufacturing or job cost accounting environment is preferable. 
•    Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization both verbal and in written. 
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•    Strong analytical, financial reporting and accounting skills as well superior computer skills (advanced knowledge of Excel, JDE experience a definite asset).
