To strengthen our team we are looking for a Business Development Specialist, LS Europe (m/f/d) at the next possible date.

Role Summary

For ATS LS’ Europe commercialization organization, this role is responsible for hunting, identifying, and qualifying new Life Science capex opportunities for the ATS LS capex account managers to pursue and close.  Success is defined by quantitative metrics in terms of new lead generation from new accounts not known to ATS LS in Europe, and ROW (aligned with our regions of focus). Additionally, the leads that are generated will be measured against whether they successfully pass through the lead qualification stage gate called conversion of leads to actionable funnel.  
For this role, it is anticipated a typical 25% conversion rate is seen from the unqualified lead state to converting to a qualified lead state that an account manager can pursue.  The strength of the lead presented to the account manager will lead to the ability for the lead to be converted to an actionable opportunity.
This role requires the candidate to be relentless in research and identifying the connection of end-user’s products and manufacturing processes with ATS’s global core competencies

KEY OBJECTIVES:

Measures of Success in a fiscal year:

Promote and support the FEOTB LS sales team in delivering pre-qualified sales leads for primarily the LS NA team to pursue  

  • Enabling > $ 80M in capex opportunities presented and a fit to be pursued (year 1)
  • Enabling > $ 15M capex won work (year 1)

Market research and mining market trends, competitive analysis, customer needs    

  • Provide market intelligence to support LS Europe sales strategy
  • Ideas for new innovations
Specific Responsibilities
  • Researching growth areas, under-developed areas, new geographies mining for new customers within MedTech and Pharma that are attractive to ATS LS Europe and the broader global division
  • Identifying market and regulatory trends and areas of new activity, and the associated manufacturing needs that may not be adequately served with current supplier/competitor offerings
  • Identifying unmet needs of prospects and customers through interviews, feedback, etc.
  • Support LS account managers in transferring qualified leads through the ATS front end of the business (FEOTB) process
  • As appropriate participate in the capture team to win a pursuit
  • For each opportunity to be presented to the sales team, prepare rough scope of work, customer hot points, description of application, customer contact details, and suggested initial win strategy points as a deliverable   
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Collaborate with the other Marketing, Business Development & Sales Operations team members to develop department goals, priorities and metrics and to ensure well-coordinated execution of activities in support of the overall Sales strategy
  • Liaise with other ATS LS and ATS Corporate groups as necessary to advance business development activities, e.g. Supply Chain, IT, Legal, Finance
  • Attend conferences, symposia, trade shows and professional association meetings and promote ATS LS solutions and brand
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Ensure activities comply with Corporate and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Ensure activities comply with Data Privacy and GDPR regulations and ATS policies.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, with demonstrated experience in sales of capital equipment
  • MBA preferred, but not required

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible sales experience in a life sciences or automation technology and integration field (or related functional experience)
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in prospecting and developing new business
  • Demonstrated experience in the manufacturing processes for device assembly
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of complex sales techniques and track record creating, negotiating and closing multi-million dollar large-scale deals
  • Experience with project management and managing within a team environment
  • A demonstrated passion for the customer experience, written and media communications, and knowledge of how to leverage each to achieve communication goals
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding target goals
  • Creative self-starter with a bias for action and change, and who continuously challenges the status quo with novel ideas and solutions

Skills:

  • Superior written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • The ability to translate goals into actionable and measurable plans and communicate the results to leaders
  • Excellent analytical, time and project management/execution, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work in unstructured environment and manage complex situations and multiple priorities with positive outcomes
  • Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Windows interface, Microsoft Office packaging (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and decision making skill
