Spinbar Supervisor

SP Industries, an ATS Company has an opening for a Spinbar Supervisor to join the team!

 

The primary purpose is to lead the team in the achievement of daily production, quality, cost and delivery requirements in support of the business operating plan. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain adequate staffing and capacity plans to support SP's growing market share. This leader should be able to positively manage a skilled workforce by focusing on talent development and succession planning. Most importantly, this candidate must support and foster a culture that embraces change and focuses on continuous operational improvements that further enhance the customer experience with SP's products and services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Analyze work orders and production schedules to determine operational priorities and appropriate information required to process materials, complete assemblies and test products within the lead times.
  • Assign specific work order operations, setups, production tasks and/or special projects to subordinates.
  • Ensure availability of resources required to support department operations including manpower, materials, fixtures, tools, supplies and equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to assist and facilitate fabricators, assemblers and testers in the performance of their assigned work.
  • Utilize the SP computer network to obtain part information and other required manufacturing data.
  • Responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate input of labor reporting.
  • Train subordinates in Lean and Continuous Improvement principals, assembly procedures and techniques, safety, processes and work instructions, and insure cross-training to a capability matrix in all areas so qualified backups exist to perform all required operations.
  • Insure equipment, tooling, and machinery are periodically verified to insure optimal and safe performance; coordinate repairs and upgrades as required. Ensure equipment in use is current with calibration and in compliance.
  • Insure work-in-process is in compliance with engineering, quality, ISO and customer standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to 5S principals.
  • Communicate actively with subordinates, production leads and managers to ensure continuity of work and department priorities; share manpower between work-centers to fill voids, cover peak demands and balance workloads.
  • Assist with the generation of routers, labor estimates, and work instructions.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Recommend measures to improve working conditions, production methods, efficiency, equipment performance, and quality of product; strive for continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems and assist subordinates in solving work problems. Initiate and suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Provide assistance as required for support of facilities maintenance, security, and opening and closure of building.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

Oversee all production activities and personnel within the designated area of responsibility. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Minimum 5 years progressive manufacturing supervision experience, of which 3 must include managing and directing activities of developing people
Demonstrated motivational and leadership skills and ability to drive change in a fast-paced work environment.
Proven track record of creating, implementing and/or sustaining a lean operation.

 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. The ability to determine proper ratio’s based on percentage calculations

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Any additional required training is as determined appropriate by the immediate supervisor with inputs from, but not limited to the individual, management, personnel, or the safety committee.
