Accounting Analyst I
The Accounting Analyst ensures the company receives payments for goods and services and records these transactions accordingly. This includes verifying and posting receipts and resolving any discrepancies. Assures effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with current international financial reporting standards (IFRS) government regulations and Bill 198/ Sarbanes-Oxley.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- General accounting process: cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, expense reports, other general ledger activity.
- Assure proper segregation of duties and other controls are in place to secure company against impropriety.
- Monthly close and financial reporting process, including special quarterly, year-end and tax requirements. Assure they align with IFRS requirements.
- Perform reconciliations on all general ledger accounts.
- Prepare journal entries along with other month-end closing activities.
- Assist with physical inventory counts and resulting analysis.
- Review and perform account accruals.
- Working knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
- Record retention for Finance, Human Resources and other areas as required.
- Annual planning and financial forecasting. Department budgets: Prepare annually to support plan and then produce monthly reports comparing actual to plan.
- Pursue and implement process improvement in the department.
- Lead and/or participate in audits as assigned.
- Ensure safeguarding of company assets.
- Human Resources/Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements and initiatives as required.
- Quality requirements and initiatives as required.
- Generate cost scenarios, reports and presentations. Content should include trend analysis with cause and suggestions for improvement.
- Generate other analysis as required for running business and supporting initiatives.
- Comply with all ATS Company policies.
- Comply with International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards and documentation for department.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- CPA, pursuit of CPA, desired.
- Up to two (2) years equivalent accounting experience.
- Preferred two (2) years of experience in an IFRS environment.
- Excellent math, communication, and organizational skills.
- Software/system knowledge, e.g., enterprise resource system (ERP), Microsoft Office suite, advanced level skill in Excel.
- Ability to work with business systems; directly or indirectly.
- Must be hands-on and must be able to meet deadlines for his or her responsibilities either directly or indirectly.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
- Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
- Visual acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.
- Hearing ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
- Working conditions – The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting the manufacturing floor.
- Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
