The Finance and Accounting Intern will support NCC in the areas of Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), general accounting, and analytical support for our commercial, corporate, and operational business partners. You will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in processing transactions, understanding journal entries, and leveraging analytical skills to mine data from department databases. This internship offers exposure to key finance functions and provides a platform for interns to contribute meaningfully to our organization's success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Support AR processes including billings, invoicing, and their archiving organizational processes.
- Cash applications of customer payments
- Accounts Payable (AP):
- Assist in processing vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring timely payments.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve invoice discrepancies and inquiries.
- Maintain vendor records and reconcile statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- General accounting:
- Month end journal entries to ensure general ledger and subledger aging reports for AR and AP are reconciled for 3rd party and intercompany customers and vendors.
- Daily reconciliation of JP Morgan/Chase cash account with Global Shop
- Month end balance sheet reconciliations to ensure general ledger and subledger aging reports for AR and AP are reconciled for 3rd party and intercompany customers and vendors.
- Analytical Data Mining:
- Maintaining, developing, and enhancing existing databases related to balance sheet and P&L accounts.
- Data mining from Global Shop and One Stream to support the existing databases referenced above.
- Assists with end user requests from commercial, corporate, and operational business partners.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entry principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
