Finance Director - Pharmaceutical Production Equipment

The Finance Director will be responsible for the financial health for the pharmaceutical production equipment business, focusing on commercial execution, operational excellence, profitability, and strategic planning. The Finance Director will lead the financial forecasting and budgeting processes, inventory valuation and management, cost analysis, cash flow, and compliance, while collaborating with sales, operations and R&D leadership teams as the primary finance business partner. 

 

Key duties include financial planning and analysis, monthly and quarterly management reporting, risk assessment, establishing, tracking and ensuring accountability towards financial targets, while providing data-driven insights that drive performance towards strategic growth within the pharmaceutical equipment business.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In close partnership with commercial, operations and R&D leadership, drive financial performance with a focus on the business’ Value Drivers through financial insights, analysis, and by providing financial leadership with business partners across the organization. 
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans, specifically analyzing costs related to production, new products (NPIs), and capital investments.
  • Monitor production costs, identify trends, and implement strategies to improve efficiency and maximize profitability.
  • Prepare financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow), ensure compliance with regulations, and liaise with auditors and external bodies.
  • Prepare monthly sales commissions for payroll processing.
  • Provide financial guidance for strategic decisions, including market analysis, risk assessment, and evaluating make-vs-buy opportunities.
  • Work closely with operations, supply chain, engineering, and project teams to provide financial insights and support operational excellence.
  • Manage cash flow, monitor financial details, and develop strategies to mitigate financial risks.
  • Manage and mentor Financial Manager and drive continuous improvement in financial processes. 

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degree or equivalent preferred. 
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis or accounting
  • Strong experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience with Percentage of Completion accounting highly preferred. 
  • Hands-on experience with cost accounting and operational finance

 

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Experience supporting multiple plants or complex manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Finance Manager and indirect report(s).

•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to sit for prolonged periods and occasionally walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs.
