Polisher

Scientific Products, an ATS Life Sciences Company is expanding our team and have immediate opening for a Polisher - 1st Shift

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Use designated abrasive wheels, discs, or belts according to grain size, type of finish specified, product being polished or amount of metal to be removed.
  • Use a variety of grinding and polishing equipment, techniques and tools based on finish requirements.
  • Follow proper sequencing and selected abrasive mediums as determined by immediate to ensure optimal productivity and throughput.
  • Sets-up, use and maintain equipment with proper components and supplies so as to ensure optimal performance.
  • Grind, sand and buff surfaces to meet specified requirements.
  • Select and use proper clamping and holding devices whenever appropriate.
  • Use various types of material handling equipment including hand trucks, carts, forklifts, scissor lifts, cranes, etc. where required and available.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Minimum high school graduate level required.
  • Good judgment is required in determining proper tools, grinding mediums, and sequencing to optimize productivity while ensuring that all quality specifications are met.
  • Regularly required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to handle tools utilizing various energy sources- low and high voltage, pneumatic, hydraulic -of low to high power.
  • Fork Truck Driver's License or training preferred.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are typical of those an employee might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • The shop contains mobile equipment, machinery, and high voltages.
  • The shop noise level is variable and may require hearing protection in some areas.
  • The shop is heated when required but many areas are not air conditioned.
  • Some shop processes use high voltage arcs or concentrated magnetic fields.
