Our Automation team in our Wixom, MI location is currently looking for a bright, ambitious Controls Fluids Engineer who enjoys teamwork and on-going challenging projects.

Major Duties

Manage all fluid design applications for department projects, Work with electrical and mechanical engineers to develop motion controls circuits. Select proper components for motion control. Release Bill of material and complete documentation.

Specific Responsibilities

•    Expertise in the design and specification of fluid power systems and controls
•    Ability to perform engineering calculations for sizing systems of all types of fluids.
•    Proficiency using AutoCAD and Eplan to develop schematic drawings according to customer specifications. (Training can be provided)
•    Ability to select components for motion control.
•    Develop VTS (Vendor Technical Specifications) for outside suppliers of systems (ex: Hydraulic Power units, Compressor systems, etc.)
•    Participate/Lead internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls if needed
•    Ability to Learn PLM system to enter and release Bill of materials
•    Ability to lineup and explain design intent to manufacturing pipe leads, assist in pipe, Lube and fitting requirements. Support manufacturing during fluids build duration.
•    Knowledge of leak testing and circuits is a plus.
•    Understanding and following customer/project specifications
•    Ability to work with manufacturing team to help debug circuit designs.
•    Works with other members of the project team, both ATS and non-ATS, to develop a controls architecture that provides the functionality required, based on ATS standards and the customers controls specifications.
•    Ensures that scheduled milestones relating to controls engineering design and integration are achieved
•    Ability to completely understand and manage the as sold scope of a project and ability to identify any change in scope internally or with customers 
•    Lead and develop internal standards to be utilized on continuous projects
•    Work with suppliers for design and component selection
•    Provide input for quoting any new project changes or requests
•    Work with project Technical leader to forecast hours to execute a project
•    Support team meetings and report detailed design status to project lead or manager.
•    Limited travel requirements possibly to customer sites, external suppliers etc. Possession of a valid U.S. passport may be required. 

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in fluids design and development and integration of factory automation equipment, thorough understanding of control fluids systems and machine operation is required.
  • Ability to keep abreast of leading-edge technology is essential.
  • Must have ability to work with and communicate effectively with project team members. 

Education:

  • An Associate Degree in, Engineering, System Design, Controls Technology or an equivalent combination of education or 3+ years’ experience in related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
